Cancer

My dad was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism 18 months ago and has been on oxygen 24 hours a day since diagnosis, he was taken into hospital 3 weeks ago with chest pain where doctors discovered he has stage 4 lung cancer which has spread to lymph nodes and liver they can't treat him so he was sent home with palliative care to be put in place ( nothing has been put in place yet) I'm really worried about him and today he can't pee and his hands are purple is there anyone who can give me any advise of what this could be and also how long my dad will last

  • Hello tinag,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad - poor him it sounds awful and he has been going through so much. Wendys1 has given you excellent advice. As it's a weekend, if you feel your dad needs immediate medical assistance don't hesitate to ring 999 or if you feel it isn't so urgent you can call 111 and arrange to see an out of hours doctor.

Our nurse line is open from tomorrow at 9am if you want their advice on anything related to cancer. You can reach them on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
