I'm sure you won't screw it up.

If the genetics are like the BRCA one then it cannot skip a generation - that means in the same way that if my daughter has children they cannot have the BRCA gene then if your brother is unaffected his children need never know as they would be clear.

So I would find out about yourself first and then tell him if it's positive and he can decide what he wants to do. If it were me I'd feel a pretty strong obligation to my kids to have the test.

I hope this may be of some use I feel very strongly about genetic cancers as you can imagine

I was diagnosed with advanced color rectal cancer in October 2008 it had spread to my aorta had chemo then radiotherapy and finally operated on in July 2009 had a stoma which I soon got used to till January 2010 The positive side to this eight years later I'm still here living a normal life so there is light at the end of the tunnel,my maternal grand mother had passed with bowel cancer but that was in 1959 .My best wishes to you and your family

Hi  dan  I'm  new to  this  you are so  postive  and  refreshing  my  partner  has  just  been  told  he has  rectal  cancer  waiting for  op  on  15th  don't know what sort of  treatment  he will be having  post op  good  luck  with  your  own  battle  xxx

Thanks - it's stories like this that turn dark nights into bright days for me, fingers crossed & hoping everything is going to be ok

Because of the blockages in my bowel & liver I have to clear my system before they try & shrink it - after that tho I may still need surgery - will be finding out a lot more next week

Am a bit down today, guess I'm gonna get days like that - have cramping pains in my abdomen as well as having lost over 2lb's in weight - so a bit worried -  oh well, just gotta take it week by week I guess
