I paid privately last July for rarp because the nhs was 6 month wait!! All went well, psa 0.09 but 3 months late 0.13. Specialist tells me they don't take action until 0.2 so I'm waiting for my next test.

There is a scanner where they put a radioactive tracer in your bloodstream and it detects prostate cancer by the amount of tracer it absorbs - it can spot really small amounts and marks the target for nuking with radiation - don't know if you know about that or even need it now?

do you mind if I ask wether they removed your prostate? My friend got a reading of 70 and they want to remove it straight away. He's quite young. I wonder can it be avoided with a second opinion.

did your treatmeant mean prostate removal?  I know of someone with a reading of 70 and they have scheduled him to have it  removed very quickly. Should he get a second opinion?

Hi Marty still got my prostate to big a risk of spreading my univited guest further around my body if they operate, i think it's enough places now. 

Remember it only takes one microscopic cancer cell to move to another place and start growing to spread.

So, you go the level down with treatment? And is everything steady now? 

PSA 6 months ago was 0.03 , last blood test two weeks ago PSA 0.24 so a slow rise but no change in treatment yet , they are thinking of stopping Enzalutamide for 6 to 8 weeks to see if my health improves ,(could be interesting) .  PSA has been up and down a few times since diagnosed .

Hi Marty,

No I didnt have the prostate removed. I was on hormone therapy for two years and had 37 radio therepy treatments. My PSA is still only 1.3 after a recent test which is lowere than it was six months ago.

If it were me i would almost certainly get  second opinion
