Skull Base Cancer

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing ok! got my surgery dates confirmed,  Ive got Squamous cell carcinoma stage t4 no mo

Im going into Hallamshire Hospitin in sheffield on Tues 24th and having neck dissection the next day followed by skull base surgery on  thursday 26th..! Not looking forward to it but wish it was sooner..! (im sure you all understand) i was told 16-17hrs in total thats the reason why they are doing it in two opps, i was going to go in on the monday with 1st opp tues rest on wednesday then opp thurs but no theatre available on the tuesday so wed/thurs it is!!! followed with 1wk icu 2wk on ward then home as long as theres no problems and radiotherapy approx 6wk later (to be confirmed when and how long for) Go to see consultant nxt monday to finalise everything and sign consent forms !!!

Feeling ok at the min but im sure nerves will kick in as it gets closer but i will keep my chin up n stay possitive

  • 4th session of radio today! but no problems as yet they say you dont normaly get any until after 2wk (if you get any) Weny to northern general after my radio yesterday thought it was about a prostetic ear but it turned out it was to find out what weight i needed in eye to make it shut=1.3g  but while i was there he told me about all the different kinds i could have and the 1 i was going to have im not..!too many complecations..! (go into it later) but they did impressions of my right ear and my left side so they can make a start but dont go back until 22 sept :(  but things are moving and lets be honest..! i wasnt goint to see september!!!

    Annette1970, nice to meet you and yes i am ok thank you, ive read your other post and sorry about your so called friends! but you will meet new and better friends on here! Cancer chat is the place to come for friendly advice as we all have something in common! maybe different types as mine is a rare 1 but its still the same problems we suffer and same treatment/advice we can all pass on to help others thats still waiting for treatment.  Why dont you tell us a little more about yourself your problems and ask anythink you are unsure about and welcome to the site best wishes Andy.
