  • I'm sure you will still have problems, and it will take a long time to get back to normal living.

But it can be done. My husband had a rather nasty cancer 14 years ago. He is still going strong and no recurrence of the cancer.

I can hardly believe you are still so positive after all you've been through! It says a lot about you.

All the very best to you and your wife (who must have been through hell as well).

  • Hi Fiona, and everyone else thats followed my encounter with the big C..!

Ive not been on very much as ive had quite a few visits to hospital and Drs ect, ive not had the best of times over the last couple of week..!  my head + face +neck have still got a lot of numbness in them, feels like ive had a stroke as my mouth doesnt work as it should on the left side, i had to go back in and have a opp on my eye plus had to have my teeth out in prep of my radiotherapy ive also been for physio on my shoulder as they have cut throu nerves when they did the face n neck disection,  My balence is still pritty bad at the moment but has got better over the last couple of week and hope to get back to normal in time! my weight is starting to go back up by 10 ld as i lost 4st, i am weak and have a lot of acheing at the moment i also forget things and have to think about things like spelling but i will get better with things as i get better hopefully..! im pritty much housebound unless im with someone because of my balence but it is better than it was. i dont like relying on friends/family to run me about in there cars to appointments or collect me to go to there house for a drink n meal but appreciate it all the same! Iwill be glad to beable to drive my own car in the not too distant future as i miss my own independence and love driving my jag est with dogs in back going to east coast to caravan..! i need some convalescence..! but have to wait a little longer as nxt wk im at hospital Monday-ENT, Tues-Physio, Wed-MRI, Fri-eye so a busy wk for me :(

i should also get my dates for radio when i go on wednesday, sorry for going on a bit!!! i am still positive and intend to fight this little blip for as long as i need to to get a positive result..! chin up and best wishes to everyone ftom  Andy + Debbie

  • Dear Andy and Debbie

I'm SO glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.

You've clearly got a long way to go, but your cheeriness in the face of what you're going through is an inspiration to us all.

    Live long and prosper, Andy.

    All the very best

    Fiona x

(And also best wishes from my husband, Brian, who had cancer 14 years ago and is now fit and healthy, and remains free from cancer. He is so fit and healthy, in fact, that he had all the drains up yesterday to clear a blockage - not bad for a 64 year old, let alone one who is a cancer survivor!)

  • Well here we go again..!            Ding Ding round three..!

Start my radiotherapy monday, 1st of 33 at Weston Park, Sheffield ive had my mask made in preperation and CT scan done nearly 2wk ago so all ready to go.

This morning got another appointment to go to Northern General in Sheffield to go to the Anaplastology Dept..!!!  so it looks like im going to pick my new ear :)  or at least start the ball rolling and find out more imformation regarding a prostetic ear!!! hopfully should get it before the end of the year (fingers crossed)

I will update as things progress to let people know my journey through the radiotherapy.! just hope its not going to be as bad as they expect, im not worried as what ive already had would take some beating and the rest of my treatment plan is all down hill now with a bit of luck :)))  (hope i dont regret what ive said) just waiting on 2 more appointments to come but thats for my eye again, Got to gohave the gold weight put into my eye lid as it still doesnt close so hope when its done that will be the last for my eye, Think that will take my outstanding appointments up to a total of 39 on top of all ive had and 26days board n lodgings WOW i must have cost the NHS a small fortune this yr..!
