Hello my dear forum buddies - I cant thank you enough for your support and am sorry I have been absent for a while - was a bit lost for a few weeks but now accepting the new situation and coming to terms with it.

I have had the go-ahead for brain cyberknife and have had preparations - the treatment will be on Wednesday this week.  I havent felt too well but have had a much better day today thank goodness. Apart from a harsher chemo regime starting on the 13th, I really dont know what else may be done over the next few weeks to try and stabilise me a little - but I will let you know when I can.  Our lovely daughter and her boyfriend have decided to marry within the next 3months - so that is wonderful news!

Sending so much love to you all and know that I am so lucky to have you all routing for me.  Take care x

  • Been thinking of you also max and hoping that things have gone to plan. Hugs to u all xxx

  • Hiya ..... and as always, thank you so much!  Home this evening - cyberknife went fine and so far no problems. Apparently, the radiotherapy carries on working for up to 2wks so I may get some side effects but hopefully I won't.  Saw the oncologist today and not too good news. I should have a 2wks recovery period from chemo after cyberknife but my disease is so obviously advancing quickly that he wants me in next Friday for a new regime.  My liver is large and uncomfortable as are the nodes on my clavicle and in my tummy. The oncologist says he has no idea if I will respond to the chemotherapy but we have just got to wait and see.

I hope everyone is okay and although I know you will say not to worry, I do apologise for not posting more individually just now. Hopefully I will get a little more energy soon. Take care my friends and please know how much you are appreciated x

  • Evening Max,  Well done getting that CK done.and fast.. I reckon that is good to crack on with chemo as soon as poss. With the benefit of the the CK directly slowing down the bit in the brain, then starting that chemo asap will give the other cancer bits a real wallop.

No time for messing about . Wedding to go to.  Dresses to buy. Do we assume this chemo will mess up the hair...? I know some don't .Although I understand the cold cap is pretty damn difficult.  If so what plan are you making for hats, wiggie, headscarves etc to go with your special outfit? You do realise you will risk outshining the bride? But I am sure she won't mind.

I hope you're not experiencing too much pain at preset are you doing the Fentanyl patches +? The one time in your life when you are allowed to cheat the rules of possible addiction. Back in the day they used to have a Bromptom Cocktail which used to include Morphine/ Medical Heroin/ Cocaine and a spirit such as Gin. Most effective...

    best luv sueps

did you get a mask to keep?

I suppose this is the type of message that should be private pm....

  • Hi Max

Glad to see your post and to hear that you are back within the fold of the family following CK. Bringing the new regime of chemo forward  is obviously the  best option for  you and the sooner its started hopefully the sooner it can do something to help and you will have a little time to get used to it before the wedding.  Sending soothing hugs and lots of love your way. Thinking of you. Jules xx

  • Hello Max,

I just wanted to send you a massive, enormous, gigantic moderator hug.

We are all thinking of you at the moment and hope the chemo will go well next Friday.

    Lucie

  • Hi Max,

I was wondering how you had got on with the CK :-)

That sounds far more positive than you had dared hope for a few weeks ago. Good luck with the chemo - and the wedding shopping - not sure which of the two I would prefer to endure!

    Cheers
    Dave

    ;-)

  • Debs - how are you?  I remember that you may have brain surgery this year - when may a decision be made on that and could cyberknife be an option for you?  I hope all is fine regarding your throat and you feel well.  Also, how is Dad?  Sorry, lots of questions haha! X

Dearest Max, so good you are home and able to post.

Once again proving what a sensational lady you are, offering such tremendous support to all. How we do love you.  I will email you soon with my news boring and mundane it may be.  Hugs and kisses Kathy xxx

  • Kathy ..... I love boring and mundane! Takes me back to normality!! Hope you are ok and speak soon x

  • Hello Max,

I am so sorry I have not resopnded before noe but I must have missed your post from when you got home. Many apologies. Hope the pain has dissapeared by now and that you are recovering. You are one brave lady. It makes me mad that so many nice people have to suffer so much.  You and Jo (Meekcat) and others, while undergoing treatment still find time to respond to so many on here. If I had my way, I would award you medals for to use a word I think our Jules came up with and that is bouncbackability.

Take care my lovely forum friend, sending best wishes and kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hello precious angel, have emailed you, so if your not sick of my dribbling....Freddie still going hit, repeat, gave it another thump so CD player still going, it would not dare conk it on  me.  It's only 15 I expect goods  to last me a long time.... I still have clothes I brought here 30 yrs ago and some of them where I was 17yrs old,, bit of emotional attachment do you think or am I just waiting for things to comeback in fashion??

  •

Hi Brian - lovely to hear from you and also lovely to hear the good news of your recent prostrate check-up. Am so pleased for you - its good to hear nice news!

As there was talk of dogs on several threads in the last few days, I feel compelled to put this new picture of Alfie as my avatar.  It really made me laugh  -  know I am biased, but he is SO cute.  Love to all! x

  • Hi Max

Ultra cute pic and animals sure do have a way of knowling how to make you smile. Great  therapy. Take care lovely forum buddy.Jules x

  • Jules .... I hope work goes well for you this week. You are in my thoughts every day x

  • Thank you Max. Being at work does help with the 'keeping life normal' and reminds me what day of the week it is.

Hope that following surgery you are getting plenty of tlc (of course you are!) and you too are ever present in my daily thoughts.Peaceful hugs are sent your way.  Jules xx

  • Hi Max,

Just wanted to say I love your new avatar. Animals all have their own charachter and Alfie seems to have it in abundance. Think he thinks its a space helmet. Animal do have this way of spreading fun, laughter and happiness.

Years ago when our son was still at school, he used to go to ATC. He would come home and as soon as he took his boots off, our cat named Sooty would put his head right inside if his boots which we found hard to understand as at the time our son had very smelly feet. You could see Sooty breathing very deeply Max and this always used to make us laugh. I couldnt think of a worse punishment than smelling my sons boots and here was our cat loving every minute of it and he used to get quite upset when our son put his boots in the cupboard. He literally adored our son and was more his cat than anyone elses

Take care Max, wishing you all the best, Brian.

  • Hi Brian and all my lovely forum friends...... Sorry I have been a little absent but started the new chemo a week ago and have spent most of my time in bed or on the loo up until yesterday when I needed a day in hospital being rehydrated.  Feel so much better today - eaten well and had a nice day out of the bathroom haha!  Lets hope that it will stay that way and I will now get a couple of good weeks before the next infusion, I can cope with that!

Glad you like my new avatar picture Brian!  I am so very glad that we got Alfie - he is the sweetest dog I have ever come across - so kind and well-behaved and a constant source of joy.  Every time I look at that picture I melt and just think he is so very cute.

Sending my love to everyone and speak soon x
