Some fantastic news!

Hi forum friends, I'm just back from getting the results from my recent surgery. The pathology showed it to be a benign mass (neuroma)! Fantastic news! The liver surgeon is now going to refer me to the thoracic specialist and he'll take it from there! I asked about time frames and it's unlikely to be before February next year, so the liver doctor told me to go and enjoy a fantastic Christmas! He also advised me to stay off work until the New Year - sounds good to me! So, I'm sitting here, slightly bemused and letting the good news sink in! Hugs to all, Jo xx Grrr! It's posted twice! Not sure how to delete one of the threads! Any advice?
  • Good morning JO,

What fantastic news. I am so pleased for you and yours.

I hope you have a wonderful time over Christmas and the New Year. :D

I had good news last week and was put on 6 monthly check ups a little early. But that means no appointment until May.

Enjoy the enforced rest. I am sure you can find lots to do.

    Happy Hugs

    Annabel. xxxxx

  • Hi Lucie, yes, I do like a tidy house, but with two cats and a dog, it's hard going sometimes - they leave their toys everywhere, haha! x
  • Hi Steven, thank you for your kind reply. Wow, a school closed by you! Could it be the Norovirus has hit ? My colleagues have kept me informed about what's going round, and hand, foot and mouth is in the school community! Certainly don't want that for Christmas. Good idea to keep washing your hands. We had a nurse into school to do a hand washing workshop with the children - she brought in an ultra violet light box which showed up germs on hands - one little lad's hands glowed bright blue!!! I carry a small bottle of hand gel with me - not as good as soap and water, but a good stand by when out and about! I wish you and your wife a very happy Christmas, Jo xx
  • Wow Max, it's really sinking in this morning - I slept really well last night too! Obviously been stressing more than I realised! Will email you soon, chick. Xxxxxx
  • Good morning Jayne, managed a good night's sleep - feel like a weight has been lifted. And as I've been signed off work, I can enjoy guilt free Christmas TV haha! xx
  • Hi Hope, thank you for your lovely, supportive words. Will miss the excitement of the kids in school, but don't want to risk a cold or tummy bug! Hope things are ok with you and your family. I know this time of year is very hard for you. Take care, lovely. xx
  • Thank you Jo = yea - its some sickness bug at the school. I work in a supermarket (Asda) and I get through a large bottle of hand wash and a whole roll of towels every week to keep clean. I get a shower when i get in so not to pass on anything to Anne. Actually we had some good news as well - she passed her check up on Tuesday and is booked for scan in Feb. Its a year since the operation. Its a funny life turning event. She didn't want me to give up work - so I have soldiered on (it was hard not to cry at work - but my colleagues have been truely supportative as has Asda). Things have settled since and I am back to my studying - this time a study on how Myopia develops in children. I see lots of kids every day and so get lots of first hand chance to study this. I dare say that in the future - looking after your eyes will be part of the curiculum. Its been Christmas in Asda for a while - my best time and many of us dress in Christmassy clothes. Its a lot of fun. Nearer Christmas we will go quiet on our dept (opticians) I will transfer to wines and spirits which is manic!

So, we are on hold until Feb. Anne has kept the stoma and it is no problem to us. I order the stuff every month. Its jolly nice to hear your good news - such a bumpy road - eh? I bet you will be happy to get back to work - I am sure it won't be long - so enjoy every day off until the dreaded day of returning to the workhouse!!!

    steven xx

  • Good morning lovely Annabel, thank you for your lovely reply. We came home from the hospital, slightly stunned, but as the evening wore on, the good news sunk in! Your news is fantastic too!!! (I would add a smiley face, but my post may not 'post') doesn't it feel good to have bigger gaps between medicals? Yes, I will enjoy the enforced rest - guilt free lounging on the sofa with the dog, a cuppa and soppy Christmas movies haha! Much love to you. 'Elusive' Annabel (I do miss the PM facility!) xxxx
  • Hi Jo, What wonderful, wonderful news, I am so happy for you. Good also to see you have been sleeping better. Nice to see you have a few weeks off work to rest and relax, pretty good idea of the docs. I will go to sleep happy tonight thanks to your good news. Big hugs Kathy xx
  • Hi Steven, great to read Anne's good news too! So glad your colleagues are really supportive - it makes such a difference to have everyone spurring you on! Your studies sound interesting - is myopia short-sightedness? (Dredging up my biology O level ! Hyper metropia is another eye condition I recall but can't remember what it is - long sightedness maybe! Wow, this could turn into quite a science lesson! Haha! I popped into work this morning to watch the littlies perform their Christmas play - more a winter play as the older children do a more traditional Nativity. It was very heartwarming! Nice to see my colleagues too, but also great to leave them all to it! Hope you don't mind me asking, but has Anne chosen to keep her Stoma, or is a reversal not an option? Mine is 15 months old now and I've just adjusted what I eat. A reversal is on the cards for me, it's just that more flipping tumours keep taking priority on the operating list! Enjoy your new role in the alcohol section - from optical glasses to wine glasses in one easy stride! ;) Take care, Jo xx
