Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

  • Hi,

I am feeling nausea's again and am taking  6 anti-sickness tablets a day. I can't say I wait to take them but as soon as I lift my head off the pillow in morning I need one. I am eating even though I feel sick. I keep trying to watch tv in the evening but can't settle. I am in touch with a girl who is on same chemo ( she has finished her 6 cycles ) she has been desperately sick and no signs of it clearing. I still have 3 to go and god knows how I will get through it.

    Hope everyone is doing good.

  • Hi everyone, I know I am not writing much but I do try to read the posts, I sometimes just don't know what to say.

Eileen I feel so much for you having this nausea it is an awful thing to have to tolerate, I just hope it will settle soon and you can have some peace.

I wanted to say that I feel very sad that Carole (Dizzie) passed away, she fought hard and long, I have been following her blog along with Tony and our dear Rose, my thoughts go out to her lovely family, Carole helped a lot of people on this site and was much loved. This made me think of Jayne and her lovely family too. I have to say I avoided checking her blog and the main site this week as I didn't want to read what I knew I would find.

    Thinking of you all

  • Just kidding Hazel although my post was quite long looking back, thought it may have made everyone sleepy. Pre-assessment done and ok, we have an 8.30 start tomorrow, onc, port and chemo, all day job! Mary still feeling good.

    Best wishes,

    John

  • Dear Dot,

I didn't know any of the people you mention, though I have read bits of their stories on here and elsewhere, and I would just like to send my condolences and sympathy to all their families and friends.

God bless and love to them all, and to you, Dot.

  • Hi Eileen,

Ask your doctor if you can try some different anti-sickness tabs, worked for Mary.

  • Hi John,

These are the new ones. It is the cistplaten that makes you sicker than the other chemo's..

  • Eileen, it's so awful feeling sick like that.  I found that pure root ginger capsules used to make a "tea" helped me last week (the pack says you can use them like that). Not the best of drinks, but manageable with a bit of sugar, and worth it if it works, and you only need to have one cup with luck. I got the capsules in Holland and Barrett.

    Hope they help!

    Lots of love,

  • Hi Dot,

I am very sorry to hear the news about Carole (Dizzie), she was very active on the forum (1400 posts!) and I'm sure most of us must have been involved in a few discussions with her. My most memorable was when she told me about the meaning of her user name "Dizzie" on This Thread, very amusing, have a read.

Always very sad to hear news like this, my thoughts are with her family.

  • Hi Eileen,

It may be worth asking again to try something else as there are various anti-sickness tablets available and different people respond better to certain types (according to Mary's nurse), just as everyone may respond differently to types of chemo or anything else. Mary notices that when she delays taking her Metoclopramide tablet, she starts to feel the nausea coming back, but taking another tablet straight away seems to sort her out. I can't offer any more advice than that, it can't make you feel any worse experimenting.

    Hope you feel better soon,

    John

  • Hello, Eileen

How are you?  Hope you are feeling a bit better. xxx

Well, the deed is done - I have chopped off the hair as it was beginning to come out in handfuls (already, only 2 weeks!).

The wigs and scarves are now in use, hence my new avatar.

Hope everyone is bearing up,  lots of love to all,

    Hazel xxx
