Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

  • Hi everyone,

Jackie I put this beautiful scarf on my head twiddled it on one side and draped on to my neck, it looked quite elegant, or so my husband said lol.....so I wore that, but I have to be honest I felt I would have been just as comfortable with the monk lol.

Hoping my chemo would be similar to last one, I can do that lol..........or is my memory short lol. Hope yours settles soon Jackie.

Doc asked what side effects were, when I mentioned the cold sweats, she said it COULD (not was) be a sign the disease was still active, menopausal etc. I am still going with.......I will live each day as it comes, singing..........who knows what tomorrow bringssssssssss lol

    Love Dot xxxxx

  • Hi Dot & Ladies',

I am sure you looked elegant as the scarves can look so nice. David alway's knows where I am when go to Tesco as he spots my scarf....I think the cold sweats are just the chemo as I still get them with my chemo. I have had the dreaded drink sent this morning in the post, my scan is booked for the 1st Sept so not long really and its all done with....

Jackie I am sorry your mouth is still sore, did you try the Hydrogen peroxide ?

Well I am off to a food festival in Cardigan today so it should be good as there are belly dancers and singers on......Hope you all have a lovely weekend and the weather is good....

  • Hi all

Rose and Eileen it is good to see your posts. This lot of chemo knocked me off my feet, I realise now that the first cycle had very little effect on me. I am feeling a lot better now but my hands and feet are still tingling slightly, not so much of the aching legs now and a very sore scalp. Great fun isn't it lol.

Rose it is good to hear that the new baby is settling in nicely and sorting out her parents lol.

Eileen hope all goes well with you tomorrow, sorry to hear you haven't been well.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

  • Hi Ladies

Rose - I wish! Got a meeting with HR on Wed where I assume they will terminate me! Still no idea (despite paperwork) what I will get but its got to be better than nothing

Liz - hope today goes OK

Dot - totally agree not sure what's hit me this time, don't remember feeling like this last time! Totally washed out, really tired eyes and has lasted right through till today! eyes still tired but at least energy is sort of back. Don't worry about the feet it will get worse but you get used to it, if it gets really back they will decrease dose to taxol or swap to Doxil like me.

Can't believe chemo is due again Fri, where have the last 3 weeks gone! after Fri I'm half way through so your nearly there to Dot and Liz you'll be finished

Have kept an eye on forum but as nobody posting and I didn't have anything to say and was feeling sooooooooooo tired I didn't post, will try harder next time!

    Good luck everyone

  • Hi Ladies

Hope everything is going ok! Brain head again so can't remember where your all up to, but I think Liz should have now had her last one - so hope your not feeling too bad and at least you know its all over and done and you won't have to feel this way for a long, long time.

I'm now 3 down 3 to go! Ct scan next Thurs and oncol appoint the Fri after. CA 125 down to 23 and muscles much better so all looks promising!

Chins up cos we're getting there

  • Hi Everyone,

glad your all doing ok. I was in again overnight on Monday, I should have been having my last chemo on Tuesday but they phoned Monday at 5pm to say blood count was 1.2 so couldn't have it. I told them how ill I have been feeling with sore throat, & earache last weekend and then on Saturday night my left knee started paining me. I very sore and I can't walk was hobbling around, anyway they said I needed to get it checked out so went to my GP I actually got in to see him at 5:25 ( they are great down here ) Anyway the Dr thought I had fluid on the knee so sent me to A&E. They ended up keeping me in to do an ultrasound scan on it. Tuesday they couldn't get the scan done so let me out and I went back Wed for it. It was clear as they thought I may have had a clot. Its just Inflammation but both knees are very far.

I am supposed to be having my chemo next week now but I have told them I just can't take another one, so I will speak to DR. My scan is next Thursday Jackie. That's great news about the tumour marker... Love to all of you.

  • Hi all

    Jackie

great news, I hope things continue to improve for you and that you are feeling better.

Eileen you really do go through the mill, it is awful you have to be in hospital so often, I hope your scans are really good and that you feel in better health soon.

I have been ok, just waiting for Friday for my 3rd chemo, then 17th for ctscan to see if there is any improvement, so not really sure what happens next, they said they wouldn't continue with the chemo if it had grown but I would be handed over to the lung team, they have a different type of chemo, just waiting to see and being positive until I am told otherwise.

Rose I hope you are doing ok too.

    Love Dot xxxx
