Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

Parents
  • HI ALL - Well, I had my scan yesterday and I AM IN REMISSION!!! Now, I of course am THRILLED and am sure you are ALL happy for me, however I have had a hard time posting this with the bad news...BUT, then I said to myself - If I can just let them know there is HOPE!!!! AND THERE IS - I am keeping it short as there is not more for me to say...Docotr every 3 months, my port flushed every 6 weeks - I asked for a blood test in six weeks, when port is flushed, and my nurse is more than happy to do so...that way I have a clue of where my #'s are as well as if anything is "off" - I will know then - I will still be here to offfer my prayers, my thoughts, my aches and pains, and best wishes for ALL of you....XXXXXXXOOOOOOOO - Becky

  • Ata girl Becky. That is such great news and dont ever feel as if you cannot tell good news. This is what keeps us focussed

Get the wine in and have a fab weekend, you deserve it !!

  • Hi all,

Jackie I did write a post to you but it has gone out into the ether somewhere lol. (oops found it, I knew I mentioned your pension, must be old age lol)

My family are calling me Grasshopper lol for those who remember the Kung Fu series with David Carradine, lol you all may be too young, not sure how long ago it was but possibly aeons haha.

Had a night of cold sweats, I did have this before and my body temperature goes down to 32 degrees, when I mentioned it to the hospital last time I was there they didn't seem concerned but checked my urine and bloods which were clear. My temp is gradually getting back to normal now. Oh the joys of this treatment lol.

Hopefully your pension will be enough to give you a reasonable living, they aren't usually generous in that department but one can hope.

Wishing you a good day Jackie with more strength and energy.

Hope you other ladies are dealing well.

Eileen let us know when you have spoken to the hospital, I have you in my thoughts as usual

    Love Dot xxxxxxxx

  • Hi Ladies

I am now one of the monks! Though I do need my mate to finish work to get the bits I've missed!!!!

I remember the Kung Fund series and Grasshopper so it can't be that long ago

you both seem to have problems with cold sweats while I still sleep with a fan on How different these drugs affect us all. I seem to be going down the horrible mouth which is getting very sore again (must be the Doxil as didn't have it on the Tax), can't find anything to cover the taste and most things seem to make it worse, ah well I could do with losing some weight but 'missing' my coffee big time!!!! Apart from that feel better today thankfully, not used to being that tired

When are you contacting the hosp re your next chemo Eileen? Hope it goes well.

Hope your all feeling better for the time being

    Love Jackie xxxx

  • Hi Eileen and ladies,Becky,I hope you are on holiday or something because we havent heard from you for a while.

  • Hi everyone..

Its a little Girl, well not so little she was 8lb 8oz and arrived at 1: 40 this morning after 18 hours of labour..... I phoned the Hospital yesterday and they said I was down for a CT scan on the 30th but said I need a break. So I have a week off now, my next one is 24th so my scan will be put off for another week...We are hoping to go up to see the Baby next week, its about 4 hours drive but will try to get there and see her. The Boys are going to Ireland for a week so it will be quiet in the house...... Glad to invite you Jackie to the mad monk society. Get your pic on here so we can see you......Hope all your treatments are going ok. Rose it is like child birth you do forget how bad you feel and every day you start to feel that bit better...... Love as alway's Eileen. xxxxxx

  • Congratulations Eileen! bet your looking forward to seeing her, that should give you the energy for the journey!

Didn't think they'd put it off for long but hey a week feeling better in yourself and getting to see grandchild should be worth it. Then you just need to dig in and get it over with cos believe me if you think you feel better in week 4 you don't compared to what you do as time goes by without the chemo!

Hope your enjoying what's left of the week Dot before your next big day on Friday! Just imagine with time next week it will be 2 down and one to go before checking progress (which I'm SURE will be good), before you know it we're half way there!

Rose - congratulations to you as well.

Would be nice to hear how Jayne's doing but as she wasn't really well enough for chemo but had it anyway, I assume its taken its toil and we will have to wait patiently, thinking for you though Jayne.

    Take care everyone

  • Congratulations Eileen, you must be so thrilled.Im hoping I will be in the same situation tomorrow as Rhian is being induced tonight

Im glad you are having a break from your treatment. You must be torn between not wanting any more and wanting to get it over with.A visit to see the baby is just the ticket.Feet up while the boys are away, you could even have the TV remote to yourself!!

    Take care gran

  • Hi Eileen,

Glad to hear your baby grand daughter is here, she is a good size bless her, hope your daughter is doing good after the long labour.

I am glad you are getting a break from the chemo Eileen, you certainly need it!!

I do hope you make it so your daughter and new baby!!

    Love to all Dot xxxxxx

  • Thanks Rose for thinking of me, another chemo another step along the way.

I do remember the Thorn Birds, yes, naughty for it's time, nothing compared to what is out there now lol.

Thanks for the link Rose, I will check it out. I have a lovely wig but at the moment don't feel the need to wear it, but my trip tomorrow on the tubes to London might make me want to wear it lol. I shall wait and see how I feel, I think it might be a bit drafty on the stations lol.

    Hope you are well Rose

  • Hi Dot

Just wishing you luck for tom. It's interesting going out without hair! Last time I covered my head (bandana) everyone was more polite/helpful than usual but that was tempered with seeing what they were thinking (thought it was me being sensitive but not so such now) this time went out bald, everyone was more polite and chatty, as in jovial its like they are not sure if its a problem or a fashion statement!!!!

I would advise if you want a seat on the tube go for a scarf otherwise try the bald monk approach!!

    Good luck with the chemo

  • Hi Jackie,

thanks for thinking of me, I am tempted to go out in monk fashion hahaha, not sure if I will yet, depends on if I can get my eye makeup just right lol, at my age I have to put in a lot more effort lol.

Wish it was this time tomorrow night lol.

  • Hi Jackie,

That message made me laugh, I think people are so used to seeing us bald monks now that its not a shock anymore. You still do get that sympathetic look though. I hope your all doing ok with your chemo, and its not taking it out of you. I am getting my strength back every day but not looking forward to having that last chemo. Its such a great feeling to be able to do normal things....

I hope you sort your pension out and get what you deserve... All the other ladies' I hope your ok and Dot you sound like your keeping positive... You look great as well. I am not sure if I am going to Manchester next week as it sounds like a mad house up there so may go up later in year.....I will keep you posted on that on anyway.....

    Love Eileen. ...xxxxxx:love:

  • At last !!12 days late but here.Annabell was born at 7 this morning weighing 8ib 11 oz with a mop of jet black hair.

Hope you are OK Dot and everyone else.

    Rose xxx

  • Hi everyone,

long day but it is over and really uneventful, two down.........lol

Rose congratulations on the arrival of Annabell, another big baby wow, and hair, that is something my family never have, not sure it is because we are blondes but all our babies are bald lol.

What wonderful news from you and Eileen, two beautiful new babies!!!

Hi to you too Jackie and anyone else I missed.......hope you are all keeping well and strong......!!!

    Love Dot xx

  • Hi Ladies

Congratulations rose! sounds like a nice healthy size!

Dot did you go monk style???? Glad the chemo went ok!

Eileen - just imagine how good you'll feel when you don't have to worry about the next dose! the sooner its done the sooner you can get back to 'normal', 1 more lot of misery for 2 weeks then months/years free, gotta be worth it!

I'm doing ok, mouth still the major problem but seems to be settling so I guess this is going to be 'normal' for the 10 days following each dose! fingers crossed it will be gone by Mon (like last time) then I can have nearly 2 weeks of normal food!

    G;ad everyone doing ok

    Jackie xxxx

  • Hi everyone,

Jackie I put this beautiful scarf on my head twiddled it on one side and draped on to my neck, it looked quite elegant, or so my husband said lol.....so I wore that, but I have to be honest I felt I would have been just as comfortable with the monk lol.

Hoping my chemo would be similar to last one, I can do that lol..........or is my memory short lol. Hope yours settles soon Jackie.

Doc asked what side effects were, when I mentioned the cold sweats, she said it COULD (not was) be a sign the disease was still active, menopausal etc. I am still going with.......I will live each day as it comes, singing..........who knows what tomorrow bringssssssssss lol

    Love Dot xxxxx

  • Hi Dot & Ladies',

I am sure you looked elegant as the scarves can look so nice. David alway's knows where I am when go to Tesco as he spots my scarf....I think the cold sweats are just the chemo as I still get them with my chemo. I have had the dreaded drink sent this morning in the post, my scan is booked for the 1st Sept so not long really and its all done with....

Jackie I am sorry your mouth is still sore, did you try the Hydrogen peroxide ?

Well I am off to a food festival in Cardigan today so it should be good as there are belly dancers and singers on......Hope you all have a lovely weekend and the weather is good....

    Love Eileen. xxxxx:love:
