Prostate Cancer, and hormone treatment.

Well here I am just about to have my last hormone treatment injection, third  (6 monthly injection)

Wondering what happens after i get it, do i see a cosultant, do I see cancer nurse, or is it another phone call?

I am doing well I believe, PSA originaly 21.5 now 0.68 and i have another PSA blood test coming up soon, (3 mths after last one).

Got aches and pains, got the hot flush’s, the tummy, and few other bits and bobs.

So does anyone have any idea what happens after you get your last hormone treatment jab?

I am on the PACE-NODES Trial.

In my mind I think its phone calls, but for me its the same as sitting talking to a doctor etc.

  • Rolfus here, ment to  say in last line ( but for me its not the same as sitting talking to a doctor etc

  • Hi Rolfus,

It's an important milestone that last hormone treatment injection - I am not sure myself what happens after you have your last injection and I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others who have been through all this before and that they will be able to enlighten you further.  for example would be a great person for you to connect with as he has had extensive experience of prostate cancer treatment. Our cancer nurses will also be able to tell you more about what happens after you get your last hormone treatment jab and I would suggest you give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

It's impressive how much your PSA has come down and it's great that you are being monitored so regularly. I hope that these side effects you are suffering from - the aches and pains, the hot flushes and the other symptoms you mentioned - are not too disruptive and you might be interested in reading more about living with the effects of hormone therapy for prostate cancer. Don't hesitate to mention any of these issues to your medical team if you feel that some of these side effects are hard to manage as they may have some good tips for you.

I think many of our members will agree with you that a phone call is not the same as sitting and talking to a doctor - the personal touch can be very important. Get in touch with your medical team who have been doing the injections as they will be able to tell you exactly what is to be expected and what the next steps might be.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been through every step of the process and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

Best wishes and well done for completing that last hormone treatment injection!
