Bowel cancer

Hi - I’m newly diagnosed with bowel cancer but pleased to say it has not spread and I’m seeing my consultant tomorrow to be told what the treatment will be. I have a fear of surgery as we had a friend who died from an infection after a knee replacement I know I’m being irrational particularly as I have less concerns if I need chemo. I think my mind is working overtime at the moment! And I admit I’m scared. My husbands had a stroke and totally relies on me for his every day care.

  • Hi Flyingicarus, really sorry you’ve had this news but such good news that it hasn’t spread. I’m sure whichever path you take, you will be well looked after by your team. I really hope you have some support around you. I’m sure the wonderful CRUK team will be able to provide guidance too. This community is so great and I’m so thankful to be able to share my bowel cancer journey and emotions. I hope you can draw strength here too. Take care of yourself.
