Hi Poodlelulu. Like you I had a breast lump and lymph nodes removed 2 years ago now, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. My poorly boob is still incredibly sensitive so I have to take care not to knock it and a good bra is definitely necessary in my case ( I am quite well endowed, or I was til a surgeon took a chunk out of one! :(  ).  Anyway, bras. Have you considered a sports type bra with no fastenings at all? You step into them and pull them up scooping your boobs up on the way! They are also described as sleep bras. Some are more substantial than others but they are more forgiving size wise being unstructured so you can get away with the fitting more easily. I've been wearing them around the house since my surgery and I also wear one to bed as I find it keeps my sore breast more "contained", for want of a better word. You can get them from Amazon usually in packs of 3 or 5 at quite reasonable prices. QVC sell them too.

I must say I hadn't thought of a sports bra, thinking that I should have easy access to my breasts by having a front opening bra but actually when I think about it this is not really necessary. I'm going to take your advice and order some sports bras from Amazon.

Me again, I'm a dozy so and so, I've just re read your post and see that your op is next Thursday. Sending you all the luck in the world. If we don't "speak" again before then I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes well, as I'm sure it will.

Be brave, keep your chin up and just take things one day at a time. When I was first diagnosed my knee *** reaction was "I can't do this", but I could,  and I did. On my own. If I can do it anyone can. The fear of the unknown is the worst, I'm sure you will find the reality much better than you are expecting.

Hi, I bought some zip front bras from cotton traders, which I have found really useful and comfortable, since my lumpectomy, and  not too expensive. Sainsbury’s also do some lightly padded ones for £10 which I also have my eye on ! The best of luck with your op :-)

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are starting out on this journey too. I bought the slip on sports bras, but found them difficult to lift over my head following surgery. Asda, Marks and Spencer and Primark all have front fastening bras for post-surgery wear. If they're not available in the shops, many of them are available online.

Hi Poodlelulu. . After my lumpectomy and radiaton I found the best bra was from Tu Sainsbury's. It was like a crop top bra with front zip fastening.it was so comfy and supportive  that I bought 2more and still wear them 10 months on. They were £10. Each and was well. I wish you well. X Jan
