Ureter cancer now spread to bladder

Ureter tumour removed July 2021. Follow up chemotherapy from November 2021 to January 2022.

CAT scan clear.

Had check up cystoscopy last week and discovered three tumours in bladder.

Consultant planning to shave these off next week.

Very disappointed with current situation as chemotherapy was based on a successful trial.

Wondering what other surprises could show up in different locations.

  • John had scans if the same areas when I asked about it in the Macmillan group it seems to be the norm We waited 2 eeeks  but I  think  post Covid wait times are longer Thr results go to your  Gp electronically and we got an appt with our Gp towards  the end if the 2 week and he had them and all was ok Actual appt was another 10 days later with consultant

Hoping John can have treatment tomorrow for the last day ir so he has been tender in a certain part of his anatomy Had some antibiotics in so started them immediately and it is sorting the problem so we shall see

I'll let you know how it goes

I know how you feel the waiting is awful someone I know calls it scanxiety

    Take care

  • I think the ct scans were for the ureter to see how the little something they found before. I think the other stuff they scanned was to see if there was anything else there. The radio therapy he had 19 years ago in Spain that got rid of his prostate cancer must have spread it about and it's a well known fact that that is what it does. But that therapy saved Ronnie's life so know we have to go threw it all again. I still think it was worth it having that done. It was the consultant at our hospital that said he should have it. But at the time i wonder if he new that all this would happen.

  • All went  well had treatment no infection in urine Nurse felt he may not have drunk enough extra  water during heatwave He can stop antibiotics

Final mitomycin us 1st August as we are away for my birthday weekend then nurse will ring consultant to tell him John has finished the course He said around 6 weeks after course finished he would change John's stent and have a look in the ureter to see what was there

    Best wishes

  • So pleased John got his 5th. Hope you have a nice birthday and get away from all this.

So i take it he will be having a urethrectomy ? to have a look round to see if the therapy worked. Does John have a stent in all the time. Ronnie had his taken out before his BCG. They said it would be too dangerous to give it with the stent in. He only had it in about 8 week. They might put it back later. No one says anything about that. No good guessing is it just wait and see. So i will still let you know how Ronnie goes next Friday at the bowl ct and wont expect to here from you with you been away. Enjoy your selves. You defo deserve it both of you.

  • Yes John  will be having urethrectomy  He had the stent put in March during previous one Consultant said it could stay in for up to 6 months It hasn't given him any trouble. We think he is planning to change it but will ask when we next.see or speak to him

Please let.me know how Ronnie gets on and I will certainly reply

  • Sounds just the same as Ronnie had last 24th dec.He was sent home with a catheter in and he had a turb x the stent in. He was really put through it that day. I was sat 4 and a half hours waiting for him to come out. He had the catheter in for 17 days and it should have only been in for 6. I ended up phoning the hospital and putting my foot down and threatened to speak to his consultant about it. He even had to go to another hospital to have it checked as the district nurse thought it was backing up. She phoned for an ambulance and they said it would be 4 hours. 8 hours later we got a taxi.I have  never seen Ronnie so frightened. They flushed the catheter out checked his bladder for urine and he was good to go.  We got another taxi and got home at 12.45 am the next morning. They had him in the next day and took it out and he was fine. This is the only thing he is not looking forwards to when he goes back for the camera up  Cos when they put the camera up if they see a tumor they take it out and where back to square one. Doesn't bear thinking about. Where ever you are going have a good time and i will be in touch next Friday

Going to Scarborough on Sunday just for the night I fancied a trip to the seaside and Blackpool  and St Anne's tho nearer dont do it for me altho they are both very popular The spa orchestra are doing a teddy bears picnic concert so might take my ancient teddy bear and go to listen

  • Hi Celia,

Ronnie had his colonography today to check on his bowl because of the divicular decease. He was in and out in 30 mins. He was ok but they said the results would go back to the doctor that asked for it so don't know when that will be. He got a date for his colposcopy on the 24th Aug. There sending him to a private clinic nearer where we live so we are well pleased. They sent an email with the date and time on and said a letter was in the post and all the prices was on the net for this  private clinic and the procedure Ronnie is having was £1300.So that makes it 6 week since he had the last BCG. So waiting for the outcome of that later. Waiting for the out come of the urinary tract ETC with contrast from the 21st July. So don't know when we will here about that. It's enough to send you crazy. Anyway i hope there not going to do anything else to him till we here the results from the cystoscope on the 24th Aug and lets have a bit of peace.

Hope you had a nice birthday and your trip to Scarborough was good. Let me know how your John goes on with his last dose. Take care until the next time
