    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi everyone,  I am not sure....the doc admitted there was a delay in getting me to be seen in Dec 2020 and apologised said they are investigating

He said I go in hospital on 1st Oct for another opp

Remove my breast tissue to chest wall and remove nipple

He will cut under breast and move fat into hole and try make a new nipple!

He also removing around 4 lymph node?

He said I will have radiotherapy and medication...but until The pathology look at it...he won't know whether he has clean margin

I have large breast and I am happy with them....After reading it sounds like they will look different xx

I don't know if to ask for mastectomy to be on sage side with implant...he didn't give me an option xx

I don't understand...he said I will loose my nipple and all breast tissue to chest wall and around 4 lymph nodes...gotta have it checked for clear margin

He said he will take fat from under the area where a wire is in a bra and luft up into the hole , it will look bad...can I ask for full removal and implant? I go in on Friday next week x 1st Oct xx

    HI June,

Your reply to Karen didn't appear until after I had asked how you got on.

I'm sorry to see that you are still up and stressing about this. I don't know what your surgeon's stance is on mastectomy. Most don't want to remove so much tissue if it isn't necessary. Full removal and implant is a more complex operation. I was initially told that the result would be the same wheher I had a lumpectomy or a mastectomy.

You should certainly discuss fulll removal and implant beforehand, so that you are happy that you are having the right surgery for you..

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

He said the cancer is in and around nipple, so it's a large area being removed and he would take it from underneath. Where the wire of bra is and luft it up into hole xx he still not sure if he will get clear margins x can I ask if they took your lymph nodes...did you have tissue from your body put in?

What treatment did you have or having after lumpectomy? Xxxxx sending love and hugs xx xxx

  • Hi,sorry about your news,I have the same diagnose but mine is DCIS high grade,i have done one  surgery but the margins came positive si next week will do mastectomy ,hoping for the best, scary times for us but we need to be strong and we are lucky to have a pre cancer prognose.

    wish you all the best

  • Hi june

Just stick then on no one needs to know whats under them tassels my lovely lol yeah it is all a bit confusing they dont give easy answers thats fof sure, look at me a week past Monday results are clear from what we tested but due to changes we want to double check; did that stereotactic biopsy put another clip in, i spoke to the consultant and i said what do you think it is! She said at the monent its a mystery, i asked the radiologist when she took an xray before the biopsy and she said they think a radial scar, but they told me on the phone when i got my results it wasnt, so a medical mystery just now, I'll find out on Monday when i go to the clinic, i said to the consultant on Thursday so the results for the first biopsies were fine but i needed a more detailed biopsy because it wasnt where you needed to be looking at? And she said yes hence why they have put another clip in!! She said we are hoping  worst case scenario its a radial scar but we dont know, so i know where confusion comes from because they said it wasn't a Radial scar! So im still in the dark until i go on Monday.

    Hugs Karen xx

    Hi Karen,

How are you bearing up? - not long now until you get your results. I hope that all goes well on Monday.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine

Nice to hear from you, yeah another long wait but hopefully be fine, its the wait again and the unknown, so been a bit low to be honest, if everything is ok what a journey it still has been, i take my hat off to you all in your journeys!!! But the last 2 weeks since i joined ive read everyones journeys and it's so nice how everyone supports each other!!!

You jolamine are one of the strongest people ive had the pleasure to talk to, your knowledge, understanding and support, so lovely how you reassure June!!! June is lovely too and she will get through this, the surgeon and nurses are certainly on the ball and not making her hang about, as you say next week at this time it will all be over for her and she will deeply be in our thoughts

You are a true inspiration jolamine! Thank you

    Love & hugs.                                                                            Karen xx

    Hi Karen,

It's only natural that you have been a bit low. It is hard enough waiting 1-2 weeks for results, but becomes all the more worrying as further tests are required. Still, most of these tests are to rule out anything sinister as much as they are to find something and, in the long run, you'll be glad that you have had a thorough investigation rather than being palmed off.

It is so kind of you to say that I am a strong person Kare. I always thought that I was until I was diagnosed. My mother died from breast cancer not long before I was diagnosed and, I had always expected that it would happen and thought that I was prepared for the news. I was utterly embarrassed by how I reacted to the news that I had it too. It was this experience of total despair that prompted me to come on to the forum. I got such tremendous support from  total strangers and, it was this which prompted me to try and help others. My knowledge is not huge, but I have had 12 years to try and hone up on the subject.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on Monday!

  • Hi

Hope you are well xxx I posted on here about the injection am having, blood protein? Xx I am so worried its spread xxx

    Love and hugs xx

  •

    Hi June,

The dye is a normal procedure and nothing to worry about. As you said this will identify the sentinel node(s).  Some hospitals are set up to assess these during surgery and, if these contain any cancer cells, your surgeon may remove more lymph nodes to find out the extent of spread. This avoids having another operation. It would be worth asking your nurse whether or not your hospital has this facility.

Just remember that it's not spread until you're told that it has and, keep telling yourself this, as there's no point in worrying about something that might never happen. It's going to be a busy week for you next week, but it'll soon be all over.

    Love & Hugs,

    Jolamine xx.
