    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi moira

It was horrible, the dr wanted an xray first then i got the biopsies taken and another clip put in, then another mammogram i went and saw the dr who said at the moment where it is is a mystery, she is hopeful that it still is a radial scar but will have to be removed if it is, if its not and the results are benign they are going to leave it alone just now, so basically my results on Monday were  fine as they werent as close to where they needed to be, so results on the 27th, im a bit low tonight, getting sore, tired, *** off,

On the plus side..... one side linda lusardi watch this space

    Hi Moira,

I'm glad to hear that you don't have too long to wait. Much to my surprise, I fell apart when I was first diagnosed. This is why I started to try and help those in a similar position.

    Every day is a bonus!

    Kind regards,

    Hi Karen,

I am sorry to hear that it was a difficult appointment for you, but that's it all over, apart from another anxious wait.. You're bound to be low tonight, as well as sore, but it's onward and upwards from here. Try to keep yourself occupied, to help pass the time whilst you're waiting. It sounds as if there is still every chance that this could be benign - fingers crossed!

  • Hello ladies,

i got results of my biopsies today and it is DCIS high grade. Really relieved it's at early stage but high grade is less good obviously.  Nurse kept reassuring me it's curable and I would get to see my son turn into a grumpy teenager but I know she can't be sure of that.

will go for mri and depending on outcome might need further investigations.  Operation is booked in for 14th October. Lumpectomy. ( I said I would be happy to do mastectomy but told but told not recommended as it hasn't spread and am still young..46.) then radio.

i am a single mum of a 4 year old and been through divorce over last 2 years.ex  Husband lives overseas.I work part time as a secondary school teacher. I relocated to UK end 2018 so life has been really tough these last few years. I'm lucky to have a sister living nearby and she has been tower of strength for me.

very frightened right now but trying to hold onto the good stats. They didn't tell me the size of the lump. I'm wondering if I can phone to ask? Also whether the timings seem good or whether it's worth considering paying to get this done privately. My breast care nurse said dates are good and they have enough time to investigate if anything shows up on the MRI (don't have date for that yet). She said it's safe and better to get stuff done with nhs.

I'm scared this thing could be growing and spreading all  the time - as doc said they only have the biopsies they took last week to go in atm.

glad to have this group and find some of you ladies got good news m. Thanks for reading! Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome x

  • Hi Roselamilli,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I'm sure that you're feeling pretty shell-shocked at the moment, but DCIS is about as good as it gets. It is eminently treatable. I was diagnosed with this 12 years ago. I has a second bout the following year and had a double mastectomy and, have never looked back. I still lead a busy and fulfilled life. At the time I was worried for my two teenage children. Since then I have seen them leave school, go to university, graduate, find gainful employment, marry and produce two beautiful granddaughters, who are the light of my life.

Once you have had your MRI they should be able to tell you more about the size of your lump. You have been through a lot recently, but I am glad to hear that you have the support of your sister. We all need someone to confide in with situations such as this. As you know there are no guarantees with cance, but then there's no guarantee when we are crossing the road, yet we don't think twice about that.

It will be a great help to your future if you can remain positive about this. Breast cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. Yours is in the early stages and, it is treatable. Hold on to these thoughts.

Please keep in touch. We sre always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi everyone

I am new to this post . So nice to see how much everyone is caring about everyone else .

I found 2 days ago a smoth lump on my upper right breast and I am terrified

I am waiting for my menstrual cycle to start this week and next Thursday I have  gp appointment for a check up.

I cannot work I cannot sleep or eat I am only thinking about this ...it is so hard

My husband is so supportive but I have not said anything to the rest of the family..I am so upset and so worried.

    Thank you for listening xx

    Hi V1234,

A very warm welcome to our forum,

I am sorry to hear about your stress. You do not say what age you are, but there is a possibility that a smooth lump could be something simple like a benign cyst. Having said this, I am not a doctor.  Not all lumps are cancerous and those that are are usually craggy at the edges and feel fixed. I sincerely hope that this is just hormonal, but you are doing the right thing by getting it checked out.

Having had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself in the past 12 years, I know just how terrifying the wait can be and our imaginations tend to lead us to all sorts of dark places. I am glad to hear that your hubby is supportive, as this makes all the difference. Mos tpeople don't tell their family until they get a diagnosis, so here's hoping that you won't have to.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

Thank yous so much for your lovely message.  Sorry I missed my age , I am 45 years  old .

I am sorry to herar that you had to go through this horrible experience a couple of times in the last 12 years , you are very strong!!

I am very scared and I cannot stop thinking about it but I will definitely keep in touch and let you know what my fate will be next Thursday!

    Have a lovely evening

    Hi V1234,

We all find the waiting one of the hardest parts of our cancer journeys. I can assure you that I am not strong. I was an emotional mess whilst I was waiting for a diagnosis. I was lucky on one occasion, but drew the short straw on the other two. Still, when it is cancer, we have no choice but to get on with it. Life's too short to let it rule our lives.

I was wondering about your age, because younger people are less liely to develop cancer, although it can hit any one of us at any time. Fortunately, breast cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer these days.

Try to find something to preoccupy your to help the time to pass.

    Thinking of you.

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Everyone, I hope you all don't mind me gate crashing, I've read through the post and feel like you are all a lovely bunch.

I was diagnosed with invasive grade 3 + Dcis 2 weeks ago, last week they told me it was triple negative so will need chemo.  I'm also getting a genetics blood test with the triple neg result and being under 50 (I'm 46).

at the minute I'm waiting on a mri,  but the waiting for everything is a killer you mind just goes to places you didn't even know existed!
3 weeks ago I was just getting on with my life, until I got the recall from a yearly mammogram.

    Sarah x

  •

    HI Sarah,

You are more than welcome to join us. I so am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Is there a reason for you having yearly mammograms before you reach 50? I know that this is not the news you wanted, but it is treatable. Have you any plans for surgery yet or are you starting with chemo?

I agree that waiting is one of the worst parts of this whole process - we nearly all find this. Our imaginations also play havoc, which doesn't help. It shouldn't be much longer until all of your tests are over and you have a planned route forward. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks so much Jolamine,

yes it seems we all struggle with the waits,  I was having yearly checks as I'm classed as high risk with a few family members on my fathers side getting breast cancer at a young age.

I'll be glad when things get moving, depending on genetics test it will either be lumpectomy or if positive double mastectomy.
