Hi Cullen,

Sorry to hear you have the disease, I too am very fit and active though my situation is apparently not so good, but I continue to keep fit and active, contrary to the wishes of my oncologist.  The implant I have had is Goserelina (Casodex), as they call it in Portugal, unfortunately it has a lot of side effects, is probably not appropriate for you, and is not working for me.

Steph mentioned that I maybe a useful contact, but I have no experience of the seed implants, my treatment has been hormone therapy, chemotherapy and cortisone.  You mention there are other options available to you, does this include a prostatectomy?  

I have read, as no doubt you have, that the success with seed implants has been very good, however if the intention is to also inclusde hormone therapy, maybe prostatectomy will be the better solution for the long term? 

Whatever your decision I have no doubt that maintaining physical fitness will provide you with the stamina; emotional, mental and physical, to overcome whatever challenges are ahead.

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback. As you say, it does seem that your treatment is somewhat different to the one I believe I will choose. We are all different and I gets what works for one person does not necessarily mean it will work for another. I guess the same goes for side effects as well.

i am prepared for side effects as I will balance the inconveniences of the side effects versus treatment success. I have a meeting this coming week with the Oncologist, so I’m keen to see if he agrees with my initial choice.
