Just been diagnosed, BC - triple negative

Hi there,

I joined the group a couple of weeks ago after my scan and biopsy and found it useful and supportive reading what everyone is going through and their advice whilst we all face the C word!

I've now received my diagnosis and plucked up the courage to say 'HI!' :)  I'm still reading up on all the booklets i've received. A strange feeling really counting the days down to your appointment like a holiday without the excited feeling and now coming home with loads of booklets and not holiday brochures.  i feel strange that i have a sense of relief but a strange relief as I do have cancer and not the all clear.  Does anyone else have these mixed feelings?

I've been diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 and triple negative.  Well from my understanding, i'm waiting for the confirmations to all come in the post.  I remember them saying 18 weeks chemo, 5cm tumour, lymph nodes, masectomy, radiotherapy....

I still feel very detached and like they are talking about someone else as i dont feel ill.  I was hoping to be pregnant :( so feel very sad tonight that is unlikely to happen now with my diagnosis and that i'm 42.

So mixed feelings all around tonight.

  • Hi Mich

You were right about the wind, really blustery here today, I'm in Kent to

They haven't given  me the injections, said as I will be having bloods done weekly they can check but after my first dose of Pax and carbo my bloods (nuetrapines) came back to low to have second week of paxo, I'd rather have the injections and know my body had something to fight infection with than not have them. We decided to stay in and follow neutropine diet and no visitors, my bloods were good by Wednesday, I have my chemo on Mondays and the bloods on Friday so five days later . I'll ask and let you know why no injections.

Another thing I get is hot flushes, do you get them?

And I bought some eye gel that I put in at night as my eyes have felt dry on carbo/plax and eye drops in morning,

Yepp I just get from one week to the next, someone said its like living on a roller coaster, they weren't wrong,

    Have a good weekend

  • Hi Ladies,

It's lovely to hear how you are all getting on. I am going to the 'Look Good, Feel Better' workshop today where they show you how to put on make-up, eyelashes etc.

I am having my first Pax on 15th, does anyone know whether that drug is better or worse for hair loss than EC? Trivial I know but it's another worry.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, As Mich said, we're in the club no one wants to join but everyones support is amazing, We are lucky to have such wonderful members.

    Love to you all,

    Sue

  • Hi Sue,

Hi Sue, hope you had a nice weekend, I have only had one cycle of carbo/paxol, I haven't noticed any hair loss, I only have fluff on my head but it started growing back and that growth is still there, my nails are still Growing, have you found that? And the hair on my legs.

I'm going to book a place on the look good feel good course, let me know how you get on? Enjoy xxx

  • Sue I know someone that had carbo and pax and kept her hair. Sue, sounds like a great workshop.

Davia I do get hot flushes.

I managed to pick up a vomiting bug last night, I'm absolutely phobic about vomiting so I've been feeling very sorry for myself. Feeling marginally more human this evening.

  • Oh bless you Clair, so glad your feeling a bit better today, with all this chemo a vomiting bug is the last thing you need

The only different thing that carbo /pax has done to me is it has given me a loose bowel and cased sore piles, there easing now but I have my pax today so fingers crossed it doesn't upset them all again

Hope you all had a good weekend,

    Xxx

  • Hey ladies,

How you feeling now Claire?  Sorry to hear you have been ill, hope its not a major bug.  I was feeling rough on Saturday, think I over did it with my chores lol!  All of a sudden i was in a lot of pain and could barely move.  Think its the neuropathy, or something like that.  I've feeling better today and went out for a walk.  Still struggling to sleep and having some weird *** dreams, is that part of the hot flushes lol!

How did today go Sue?  I saw they had one of those classes at my chemo last tuesday, must book on one :)

Hope paxo went ok today Davia :)

    xx

  • Hi Sue,

I'm good thanks. I'm now doing quite a bit in the office and managed to get back on my feet pretty quickly...but now I don't have time to clean my house and go to the shops like I did before when I was off haha. It was my birthday on Friday so I had 2 glasses of wine and was hungover Saturday because I haven't drunk in so long haha! Still it was worth it AND I could taste it :)

I hope you get your BRCA result soon so you can relax a little.

To all the other members on the thread I hope you're all doing good and keeping happy xx

  • Hey Rozza,

Lovely to hear from you and glad to hear you are keeping well and settling back in :)  Ah Happy Birthday for Friday, glad to hear you enjoyed a couple of glasses ;)  Its my birthday on Sunday, I'm going to head to the pub for a lazy roast dinner.

    xx

  • Hi Mitch

Paxo went well today and at the moment I feel ok , fingers crossed for tomorrow , I had all the pre meds and was sent home with two days of steroids two a day , and have been drinking loads where the pains you had the injections ? I asked the nurse why no injections on these four cycles , she said she thinks it's because you have bloods done weekly, I get some weird *** dreams to , think it's because our brains are working overtime , some of mine are crazy I get hot flushes all through the day , I feel really hot took my temperature once and it was up was advised to go A&E they did bloods but bloods came back good , so I'm sure it was hot flush

I'm going to book into a feel good look good day to, I still have some eye lashes but there thin , I haven't a clue how to put fals lashes on so would be good to get tips , Was it good Sue? Were there lots of you ?

    Happy Birthday Ross's for Friday

    Happy Birthday Mitch for Sunday

    Wishing you all well xxx

  • Happy birthday Rozza and Mich!

Yep, I've been having crazy dreams since the start of chemo.

Davia, do you mean the white cell booster injections? I think you don't need them on paxo as it's not so hard on your immune system. I'm going for round number 11 of paxo today and my white cell count has stayed in range throughout.

Feeling better thanks ladies, I just hate being sick, I'm such a baby! Only had one slice of toast yesterday so feeling a bit peckish now!
