Yes, if your dad gives permission, his doctor can discuss his medical situation with you. 

The only thing I would say is to be prepared. I contacted my dad's consultant based on my dad totally misunderstanding his prognosis and ever since  have been on a rollercoaster journey of knowing more than my dad and not knowing what to do with this unexpected information. I suppose the question is whether you think you should explain the situation to your dad or the doctor try again. It is a heavy burden to carry in my experience.

Hi the best thing is be staight tell your mum and dad all you know ime sure he will appreciate it if you keep it to yourself it will be a rod to beat yourself up with as time goes by ime sure your dad will respect you more for it i would. Its difficult to take it all in when its you thats ill and drs are pretty evasive now for fear of litigation ime sure your dad can take it after all you are you because of him . But my best wishs to you and your mum and dad . They say this and that but in truth with this rotton desease we none know how long we have some are told weeks and live years some are told its controlable and only last weeks if you can afford to go private for consultations i would  as the nhs now is so slow its amazing how much more time they have fore you when they are getting a big wad of cash its the money they like or they wouldnt do it instead of waiting weeks it can be next day you only need to go private for consultations not the treatments
