A bit numb and dazed but is it real cancer

Hi

I feel a bit of a fake posting here as I feel that my cancer isnti real.  My dematoligist told me I have basal cell carcinoma on the end of my nose.  I am now waiting to see a plastic surgeon for removal and plastic surgery.  Not sure how to feel.

    Hi Mags1961. Welcome to the forum.

    I should start out by saying that I'm not a doctor.

    Basal cell carcinoma (sometimes called a "rodent ulcer") is a cancer, but it's one of the easiest to cure and it almost never spreads.  A friend of mine developed one near his eye over 20 years ago. He had it removed and never had any more problems with it.  This is the typical situation with type of cancer. 

    So, the fact that it's a cancer is really just a minor technicality, and surgery should fix it up completely.

    Just been told he same - BCC on the end of my nose - Im bit dazedtoo by i all - my dermatologist said he will jut cut it out but i am terrified, due to where it is, that I will be disfigured

    I was interested to see that you are waiting to see a plastic surgeon - did your dermatologist recommend that or did you insist?

    I would feel much sfter in the hands of a plstic surgeon than the dermatologist - didthey offer you Mohs Micrographic surgery or the Photodynamic?

    Hi mags my wife had some it was on top lip it started like a cold saw so we treated it like one but it kept coming back. So we went to Dr he said straight away it was bcc so appointment with specialist straight away he said he'll cut it out now. Been OK since that was over 10 years ago, best wishes.. Billy
