Hi Aysia,
I remeber when I first joined nearly four years ago. I didnt know what to write or expect but Aysia I have made some wonderful people on here during that time and I am so glad I made the decision to join. I feel sure you will too, Brian.
Hi thankyou all for the welcome....
Im 52 and was diagnosed with Oestregen Positive stage 3 Breast Cancer last year....I had a 10cm lump which they had to shrink down with chemo first so I had 6 months of FEC T chemotherapy followed by a single mastectomy on January 15th this year 2016 followed by 4 weeks of daily radiotherapy.
The chemo has left me with partial peripheral neuropathy which really makes me angry as they gave me such a high dose of Abraxane that this caused the neuropathy. All of my fingernails and toenails fell off which was horrendously painful and left me unable to do much for quite a while. Im at the stage now of relaxing at home trying to get beyond the treatment and look to the future with hope..I have a check up looming in July where I will find out the results of a liver scan.
I hope this just tels you a little about me and my situation and where im at right now. I am seperated my hubby left me shortly after my 50th birthday I have my two sons living with me and also my gorgeous little dog Poppy .
I look forward to hearing from anyone and listening to others experiences too.
Hi Aysia
Welcome to the forum.
I was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer in July 2015, I had a mastectomy in September, FEC T began in October last year, finished in February this year, then 15 radiotherapy sessions.
It's quite a journey, I am back beginning of August to the breast clinic for my annual check.
wishing you well for your check up next month. Audrey.
Hi Audrey thanks ....I hope your annual check up goes well also...youre right it is quite a journey isnt it? At times it felt like a never ending nightmare!!
How have you healed after your mastectomy? Did you have any lymph nodes taken away ?
Hi Aysia
I have healed very well after the mastectomy, I am back swimming now, missed it during the radiotherapy sessions, I got a burn under my arm about a week after it had finished so had to wait a while before getting back into the pool.
I didnt have any lymph nodes taken away although I did get radiotherapy under my arm. Did you have any taken out?
How are you now the treatment is over?
Best Wishes.
Audrey Ive healed reasonably well but same as you I had problems with my skin breaking down under my arm after radiotherapy too which took several weeks to heal up properly. All healed now though thankfully.
I had all the lymph nodes taken out from under my arm when I had the mastectomy and now have developed slight lymphoedema in my left arm, which my son lovingly refers to as my "mr stay pufft" arm because my hand is a little puffy like a dolls hand :) but it isnt a big problem to me and im waiting to see a lymphoedema nurse about it.
Where my scar is it is quite tight and pulls when I lift my arm up to a certain point, also if I raise my left arm above my head it causes quite a pain in my shoulder.
Apart from that though all seems to be going ok. :)

Hi Aysia
i am pleased you doing okay, they did mention taking the lymph nodes out but doctors were concerned about lymphoedema. Hope you see nurse soon, love what your arm, how sweet.
Are you back at work? I returned a few weeks ago, on a phased return so getting back in gently.
Hope you are having a relaxing evening x
