10 years after breast cancer

I am a 69 year old, fit female, doing well post-end of cancer treatment but developed Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) 3 years ago, controlled by steroids. The PMR has now gone, but 2 years ago I started to get weak, slightly wobbly legs & struggled when walking up inclines, and this remains. My Rheumatologist is wondering if my current condition is a late onset of neuropathy caused by the chemotherapy (FEC-T regime) in 2016.

I wonder if anyone else has experience of this?

    Hi Golflady I had FEC-T in 2013 for breast cancer.  I have been left with peripheral neuropathy in my feet.  Some days It is fine and other days I have lots of pain in my feet and hobble around.  I don't have weak and wobbly legs though.  Maybe get it checked out properly.

    Thanks very much for responding.  I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  I had no symptoms in the first 7 years after chemo, which is why it is so strange.  I've seen a Neurologist and had nerve conduction tests which showed no issues.  I say a Rheumatologist recently who thinks it may be the chemo but I'm waiting on head, neck and spine scans to see if there is a nerve issue somewhere.  All very strange xx

    Hi Golflady,  I know chemo can cause nerve damage but none for 7 years is strange.  I am glad that you are getting scans done, do you have a date yet?
