Stage 4 face, neck and shoulder adencarcinoma

Hi guys, so I was diagnosed in oct25 and was operated on on the 11th of November.  15 hr surgery,  which has left me almost half a person. Total ear removal, part of skull and jawbone removed. 57 lymph nodes removed. Complete cheeck removal. Muscle, nerves and tendons in neck and shoulder removed. This has resulted in right eye practically useless, fight ear gone, complet paralysis of the right side of my face, neck and shoulder. So it was pretty brutal.  I've now got 10 of 33 radiotherapy sessions left. Unfortunately,  it's highest dose possible. At the moment I feel like I'm dying literally but I know I'm luck that within a month I should be half way normal.  Anyway that's me .nice to meet you

  • Hello Lemonsqeezie

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and how awful you're feeling at the moment. It certainly sounds like you've been through the wringer these past few months.

I know from the many posts I've read on the forum that others who have been through treatment for head and neck cancers would also describe this treatment regimen as brutal. I also know that following a long recovery, we have members here who are back enjoying life to the full again. I'd suggest having a read through some of the posts on this thread and if you see a link that  (aka Hazel) has shared to her blog, then have a read through that as well. I know she has shared some great tips and stories that other members have found helpful.

Hopefully you're being well supported by family, friends and the health professionals involved in your care. Don't be afraid to ask for support or advice from your medical team if you have any concerns or questions.

It does sound from your post that despite everything, you're trying to remain positive and I know that having a good mental approach to treatment can be really useful. If it helps at all to have a safe space to put down in writing how you're feeling, then please do keep posting here in the Cancer Chat community. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
