Grade 3 breast cancer aged 35 - My head is all over the place, not knowing how to feel or what to do. I feel like I'm in limbo

Hi all I got diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of weeks before Christmas and I’ve had to keep going back and forth to hospital every week for biopsies as they think they are missing something. I’ve got 5 young children (oldest is 11 youngest is 3). My head is all over the place not knowing how to feel or what to do. I keep a smile on my face everyday for my family and friends but cry my heart out in bed every night. Hoping I get a plan in place soon so I can start fighting it as at the moment I feel like I’m in limbo. This is the first time ive reached out to talk to someone other than my cancer nurses at hospital

  • Hi. Oh, the waiting is the hardest part, I know. They are being careful, from the sound of it, and making sure they find everything. I understand trying to keep positive in front of other people, but it sounds as if it's taking a toll on you. My approach was to tell everyone from the start that I had breast cancer and that made it easier for my family, because they didn't have to make excuses when they were trying to deal with it. My daughter and husband could tell their friends and boss in case they needed help and support. It was easier for us to talk about it too. It's ok to reach out and talk to people. All the people on this forum came to talk, to ask questions, to know that they're not the only ones going through this. I hope it's not too long until you have that plan in place. Take care.

  • I told my family and friends straight away but I don’t like talking about it to them as I’m always the one who is there for everyone so just find it hard opening up. I had an appointment today with my consultant and now have a ruff date for my surgery which is good and the ball is rolling now thank god. Thank u for your reply xx

  • I'm that person too, so I understand. There were some darker thoughts I had too, that I felt I couldn't share with anyone else, but there are people here who understand and you can talk to. I'm glad you had the appointment and now you have things start to happen. Good luck and you're welcome.
