Hi Jellybean,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am sorry that you find yourself in this unenviable situation, especially, at such a difficult time in your life. I am also sorry to hear that the consultant who broke the news to you was lacking in his/her people skills. This is a very stressful time and you naturally want to know all there is to know about your diagnosis. You might find it helpful to write down a list of questions before you try to contact anyone, or attend your next appointment. This should ensure that you don't forget anything important.
Cancer is the disease which keeps on giving. Whilst it's not so good that it is fast growing, the one positive is that you have caught it early. Was there any mention of the type of surgery or treatment which you should have, or when you'll be seen next? If not, you could phone the hospital and ask to be put through to your consultant's secretary (or the breast care secretary). You could explain that you have been left totally in limbo and ask for the contact details of one of the specialist breast care nurses. When you phone them, you may have to leave a message, but they'll usually get back to you as soon as they can. You will find that these nurses can be very helpful.
Rest assured that you need never feel alone, now that you have found this forum. We all support one another and are always here for you.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
