New here - how do I cope with losing loved ones?

Hello, I wanted some advice on how I can deal with losing many family and friends over the years who have sadly passed away from cancer and in the next couple of months my auntie will sadly pass away.

  • Hello Delboy08,

I am so sorry that you have lost so many family and friends over the years from cancer - it must have been devastating. It's so sad too that your auntie is very poorly at the moment. There is no pain really like that of losing a loved one and the grief that follows can be overwhelming especially in a situation like yours when you have lost so many close relatives and friends. Reaching out to others as you are doing is however an important step and I hope that you will find comfort in talking to members of our community who have also lost loved ones. I thought I would share with you information from our website on Coping with Grief which I hope you will find helpful - there is sadly no magic solution but the two things that tend to help the most are time and support. I hope that you have a lot of support around you and if you feel things get a bit much, do talk to your GP about how you are feeling as they will be able to help and give you some guidance on how best to deal with these complex emotions you may be feeling after losing loved ones to cancer.

Our community is also there to provide you with online support and I will let our members come and say hello and share their stories with you. You are not alone and I just wanted you to know that we are always there for you anytime you would like to talk or offload.

We're thinking of you and your auntie during this difficult time.

    Best wishes,
