Bewildered

Hi all, I am new here, I feel like a fraud reading these posts, I am potentially right at the beginning of a journey I don’t want to go down, 4 weeks ago I received a letter to say my recent smear test had high grade abnormal glandular cells, an urgent LLETZ was booked (which I was incredibly unprepared for) the doctor said the expectations are that the results will be pre cancer or will be cancer. I had a clear smear test 1 year ago but had to be re tested this year due to testing positive for HPV last year, so in a year I’ve gone from clear to high grade.

I am now waiting for the results, I haven’t told anyone other than my partner, I still have a huge smile on my face with my friends and family as I don’t want them to worry, but I know I need support and advice which is why I found this group.

I can’t stop my thoughts spiralling, I don’t know the results and am just waiting for that call/letter so rather than thinking dark thoughts I want to be proactive, are there positive things I can do with nutrition and lifestyle, or just in general.

Any advice given would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for taking the time to read

  • Hi Lily, so sorry to read you're going through this.

I know it may sound odd, but for me this period of waiting for tests/results was the Hardest part. No matter what the results of your tests are - the anxiety and stress of it all is difficult and I empathise with you.

best advice would be to do what you enjoy. Whatever it is just go ahead and do things with your partner that can attempt to keep your mind occupied (it is very difficult)

and consider talking to your friends/family too - no need to put on a brave face they're there for you and may help to relieve some of the anxiety and stress you're going through. You don't need to put on a brave face for loved ones - lean on them for some support

    all the best

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post, I am sure there are a lot of hard parts to this journey but I got to admit being in the dark waiting for results really sucks!

I will most certainly let my family and friends know when I get the results but I think they would just feed my anxiety right now, I may be wrong but it makes sense at the minute ‍♀️

    Tough times

I am so happy to read you are a survivor
