How do you cope

I was diagnosed with terminal cancer ( secondary breast) in Sept 24 my surgeon( when asked) gave me weeks to months. I've since been given a reprieve, of sorts, by the oncologist. Apart from certain side effects and less energy, I'm pretty well.  I can't reconcile the huge swings between having some time and almost wanting to not wake up tomorrow...because what's the point.

  • Hi Chesca,  I am so sorry to hear about your secondary cancer.  I found out in September last year that I had secondary breast cancer with mets in pelvis, spine and ribs.  I am on treatment for this ribociclib, denosumab and exemastane.  I am coping pretty well will not too bad side effects.  I dont think that the doctor can give you a time line because we are all so different and my oncologist says its not terminal.  Its treatable not cureable.  I find that trying to keep my routine as normal as possible helps.  I take my four dogs for a walk every day and go shopping, for meals and to the pub.  I also find that this and other forums are helpful for me and there are so many positive people and stories out there.  I know we are all different and deal with things in different ways perhaps it might help you to talk to a professional.  I find it difficult to talk to family as they get very upset where an outsider is impartial and you can offload.  I am here if you need to chat.
