Anyone under 30?

Hello guys my names Sophie. I’m 23 and got diagnosed with Bowel cancer just before my 22, was given the all clear and then rediagnosed before my 23. Gone through chemo, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, four surgeries, sepsis, shingles and a stroke and have had a full hysterectomy, my rectum, part of my bowel, bladder, and tailbone removed and the some of the nerves to my left leg cut. Now have two permanent stomas and along with not being able to walk properly, I will be disabled for the rest of my life. In the space of 6 months lost the only 2 friends I made on the cancer ward, I'm really lonely. I just want someone I can relate too and let's be honest that's hard to find when your my age. Sorry for the long paragraph but thanks if you have taken the time to read x

  • Hello Sophie, I'm a little older (31) but I've been finding it hard to find people of a similar age too! When I've posted on some other forums the ones who've ended up contacting me have been the sons and daughters of people with cancer.

Reading what you've been through... all I can say is wow. I thought I'd had it rough, you must be a very strong person to have gone through all of that and come out the other side!

My situation is a little different so I definitely relate to you with the various treatments and chemo and all that. But not the ops. So I've had cystic fibrosis all of my life, dealing with that pretty well got on some new drugs last year which were a game changer for my lungs and got them upto a level close to a normal persons anyways this year April I got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Bang world upside down. Stage 4. Told me they can't operate as it's spread to stomach lining and won't improve prognosis and I'll only get palliative chemo. Greeeeat.

not gonna go into full vent mode here but yeah. That's   it pretty much. I know it's fairly different to yourself but it's rare to talk to others who are under 40!
