Anyone under 30?

Hello guys my names Sophie. I’m 23 and got diagnosed with Bowel cancer just before my 22, was given the all clear and then rediagnosed before my 23. Gone through chemo, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, four surgeries, sepsis, shingles and a stroke and have had a full hysterectomy, my rectum, part of my bowel, bladder, and tailbone removed and the some of the nerves to my left leg cut. Now have two permanent stomas and along with not being able to walk properly, I will be disabled for the rest of my life. In the space of 6 months lost the only 2 friends I made on the cancer ward, I'm really lonely. I just want someone I can relate too and let's be honest that's hard to find when your my age. Sorry for the long paragraph but thanks if you have taken the time to read x

  • Hello Sophie

I’m much older than you but have had a total pelvic exenteration for a different cancer and live with 2 permanent stomas. I “met” a young girl in the same position as yourself with bowel cancer which recurred via a colostomy group on Facebook and we had our surgeries 3 days apart. She is a great advocate about bowel cancer in young people and posts a lot on social media about her story and treatment. I’m sure she would be someone you would like to know and she’s lovely! If you’d like me to let you know who she is, please feel free to send me a friend request and I will message you her details privately. It might be helpful for you to be in touch with someone who will know exactly what you are going through. I’m so sorry you have so much to deal with when you are so young. x

  • That would be great thanks, I just sent u a friend request x
