Has anyone had signs from a loved one that’s ‘passed over?’

Hi. My lovely, kind, caring, brave mother died of the awful 'c' word. Her anniversary's coming up next month. I hope no one thinks i'm a whimp. But it's the 4th year anniversary. I feel i should be further along with my 'journey of grief'. But i'm not. We were so close. I feel like i've lost several people, the grief is still so fresh. I'm getting emotional as i write this!

Anyway.

One morning. It was a few months after she'd died. I was very low. Had my head under my duvet. Feeling so emotional. Then i heard a lovely bird chirping. I thought it was in my bedroom. I slowly drew back the curtain & saw a lovely little bird looking up at me. (I think it was a Greenfinch). All our flats have wire round the windowledges, to stop birds landing. But it didn't stop this lovely little thing. I said hello quietly & asked it to come in. It didn't. it took 1 more concerned look at me. Then flitted off. The thing is. I've lived in my flat for nearly 20 yrs. That sort of thing never happened before or since. I just know it was my lovely mum telling me she's ok. She's free. Free from pain & FREE AS A BIRD. That little moment meant so much to me. Very special.

I wondered if anyone else had any 'signs' like this?

  • Hello, what a comfort! I certainly do believe in signs....me and mum always said that whoever went first ( we started this many many year's ago) we would send the scent of opium the perfume to let the other know we were ok.....well, on the evening she passed I had the overwhelming scent of opium! I know I didn't imagine it, it lasted only a few seconds but was very strong....she was letting me know she was ok.... ️

  • Hi Marlyn.

I'm so glad you believe our loved ones can send 'signs' that they're ok. That they've 'passed over'. I love your Opium sign. That was definitely your lovely mum saying she's free!
I had another sign from my lovely mum. This was about 9 weeks after her funeral. I was watching tv. When i heard a noise from my kitchen. It was my clock radio. It had turned itself on quietly. White noise. I was a bit shocked. Especially, as it turned on again, twice after i'd turned it off. But after. I realised. It was her. I was overwhelmed. It still cheers me up when i think about it. Hope you have more experiences. It seems to ease my grief. (A little). X

  • Oh I just love the radio story! ️

I also had an extremely vivid short dream a couple of months after mum's funeral, she was all smiles and looked so radiant and said " see? I'm alright now, stop worrying "

One of my best signs was from my dad....I was driving home from work ( many moons ago) I was thinking of dad, I had the radio on...I asked " Dad, if your ok...let the next song be a George Michael song" well.....blow me down with a feather! Not only was it George...it was the song Faith! Some people might say coincidence...my gut says otherwise xx

  • Hey Marlyn.

My heart just went all warm with your experiences. How special. Your mum interacting with you is a definite sign. George Michael & Faith? Wow. That wasn't a councidence.
i've had some really vivid dreams about mum. 1 i had was extremely real. It was on the 2nd anniversary of her death. I saw her handbag at a bus stop on Oxford Street. I thought how am i going to get this to her? I looked round & i was in a big hotel bar. Loads of people. I looked round again & didn't know how i would find her. Then she came towards me looking great. Smiling, happy. We were so happy to see eachother. We hugged & laughed. Talked for a bit. Then she took her bag & went to a lift. I asked if i could come. She said no & left.

But i felt so happy when i woke.

  • Sat grinning from ear to ear reading that ️
one last story, not long after my dad had died, I had a vivid dream where we were hugging each other tightly, I was crying ( happy to see you tears) it seemed to go on for the entire night! When I awoke my cheeks were wet with tears but I felt calm and reassured....xx

  • Hi again!

I often wake up with a wet face. I often sing in my sleep too. I've heard myself! I love to sing when i'm sad when i'm awake aswell. It helps. I often dream of water too. That's an emtional sign.

They call some really vivid dreams visitations. Those are the dreams when you wake up calm & happy. I had another 1.

I was a rider of a rickshaw. I was waiting for customers. When this woman came towards me. She looked familiar. It was mum. I shouted mum. I dragged her into the rickshaw & hugged her with all my mite. I cried happy tears too. I said i love you. I miss you. She looked concerned & said 'i know'. Then i woke up. I was so happy we'd had contact. Very special.

  • Beautiful....just beautiful.....

ps....the water dream...oh my god! I'm always drowning and out of my depth, or about to get thrown off a ship In choppy waters...oh eck...

  • Dreams can tell us alot.

They're a mixture of what has happened, what we wish would happen. Our hopes & fears.

Sometimes i can actually control my dream.

I once dreamt i was in a swing. I could hear myself telling me to make the swing go higher & it did. It went higher & higher. Then i woke up.

    PS

    I'm not a swinger!!!!

  • Lol....I can control my dreams too....once, in a dream, I was out shopping and suddenly thought....oh, I can shop lift and won't get caught! Then I went on a rampage sweeping everything off the shelves with my arms! I'd hate to think what that means....that secretly I want to be a shop lifting hooligan...lol!

  • I like that dream!!! It means we'd all like to do certain things we wouldn't dream of doing in our waking lives. Being reckless. Going mad!! I understand that.

You've been through alot recently. Alot of emotional stuff. So who wouldn't want to cut loose & go mad??? Stay well. (I love dogs too). I saw your bio page. I live with a gorgeous chunky little Syrian. (Hamster called Eric!!) He cheers me up. Going for a walk soon. But stay in touch. X
