My mum died from cancer 10 days ago

My mum died after only being diagnosed with cancer of the gall bladder 4 weeks prior and so it happened so quickly. It was my wedding anniversary the day that she died and we were all with her when she died at home. My husband was with me too and I found him crying afterwards saying that our anniversary was ruined forever and he brought it up again in the evening. I am struggling to forgive him for being the way he was and I know it is early days still but we were having issues in our marriage before mum was diagnosed and her diagnosis took over in my life. I miss my mum desperately and life will never be the same again.

  • Hi Sophie,

I am so sorry for your loss. It is my first time here and your post made me sign in just so I can drop you a line.

My Mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and brain cancer as well just a couple of months ago and I am also having issues with my (ex) partner who refuses to move away although we have been living completely separate lives for almost 1 year... I can understand the pressure, stress and pain you have been and still are going through.

I am taking care of my Mother and since her diagnosis she has been living with me so I can look after her and she can spend as much time as possible with her grandkids.

I just wanted to send you my love and if you ever need to talk I am a good listener.

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply to me especially as you are going through so much as well.

I am so pleased you have your mum with you and that you are able to spend some precious time together. I know each day will get a little easier, it just blows my mind how quickly it happened and that I am never going to speak to her again. The 2 weeks before her death were incredibly hard as she didn't want any of my brothers and sisters (I am one of 7) to know how bad she was and I was the only one supporting her along with my stepdad. I had to tell them all in the end how serious it was which was one of the hardest things I had to do. Luckily we are all very close.

Hope you and your mum stay strong xx

  • Hi Sophie,
