I too lost my husband on 1st may he had liver, bowel and lung cancer he was only 52. It is so cruel as in January they said with chemo he might have 2yrs without 6mths he had the chemo but it didn't work, his body went from a muscular frame to skin and bone in days, the only thing I'm grateful of is that he didn't suffer for long and I got to say goodbye as he died at home.
The only advice I can give is to take each day as it comes.
