Hi Chris & Jules,
Thank you both for your replies.
Sam and I used to do a lot of walking, this is one of the things I hadn't been able to bring myself to do, the thought of doing it without him just made me so sad (I only ever went walking with Sam). However, my Neice invited me to join her, her friend and children on a walk to Nicky Nook at Scorton yesterday, at first I said yes but then changed my mind (I had been on this walk previously with Sam). But then I had a word with myself and agreed to go, after agreeing I just burst into tears and felt really anxious, but forced myself to go, it was a lovely 4 mile walk (being with my 5 year old Great-Neice made all the difference as she chatted the whole way), she is just adorable. So that is another hurdle crossed, I will definitely do it again having children around certainly helps. Next task is to rejoin the Gym! Love to you both xxxxxxx Debbie

Hi Debbie
That first step is always the hardest but so pleased that you had company and eventually enjoyed such a lovely walk. Of course the emotions are perfectly natural and I am not sure we will ever banish them completely or would even want to We all reach different acceptance milestones in our journey through life's ups and downs but I hope you will look back on the walk with fondness. Spending time with your Great Neice was the perfect accompaniement as the little ones rarely give you a chance to over think your own feelings at the time.
I have just returned from five hours walking in the fresh air. Beautiful frosty start this morning so put on my walking boots and headed towards local lido/woods. Had my camera for company and was sitting enjoying the view by the water when I shared a 'sighting' with my son by text (big wildlife and bird fan/photographer). Imagine my surprise when he responded saying he was about fives minutes walk away having settled down to bird watch! Needless to say we met up for a coffee/chat and then continued walking until he moved on to his next destination and I walked home (he offered me a lift which I politely turned down). The next time I see him will be the evening before he gets married now just under 2 weeks away.
Stay well and sending hugs.
