I’m 26 and lost my Mum 6 months ago - heartbroken and looking to chat with people who are in a similar position

Hi, I’m Alice, age 26. I lost my Mum (and very best friend) in November 2024 to Breast Cancer.  She was unlucky enough to have suffered with two different types of cancer in her 55 years of life, but it was secondary breast cancer which we ultimately lost her to.

Heartbroken doesn’t cover it. I am an only child and my Dad isn’t in the picture.. she was my absolute best friend and our bond was unbreakable.

I am learning to carry on and keep smiling without her, but it’s so very hard. I’m hoping to meet a community of people in a similar position to me, so we can chat and support each other.

Sending love to anyone else currently struggling with a loss ️

  • Hi Alice, Firstly, I’m so sorry to hear about your mum and your best friend.

I completely understand the rollercoaster of these new emotions as I also lost my mum in November last year quite suddenly after multiple years of fighting. It’s rubbish- and that’s putting it nicely!!!!

I’m not the most open on these sort of websites and I have only signed up to reply to your post as I’m also a similar age (24) and I know that feeling of losing someone so important.

So, if you want to chat or keep in touch please reach out x
