Corona virus help

Hi there

I am a carer for my mum and she is (hopefully) soon to have her operation. We are terrified about cornovirus as she is so vulnerable. We have not been told much from the cancer team - I realise it changes every day. Should we just self isolate for the foreseeable? I am worried about even going to the supermarket to get food but it seems there is no home delivery slots for weeks. It is just the worst time for this! I want to make sure I am taking every necessary precaution, cleaning, hand washing etc but I'm scared that I will do something wrong. I want to make her feel more reassured as well, but its hard when you watching the news everyday.

  • It's certainly scary, I run a home for the elderly...I have 10 residents...I'm run off my feet...but we must try really hard not to let this overwhelm us. All we can do is take every precaution we can ...

    its such a difficult time.... ️ ️ ️ ️

  • Hi there, it is indeed scary times and I hope your mum gets her operation soon. Sounds like you are doing everything you can.

On a practical note about shopping, Sainsburys are prioritising delivery slots for those who are vulnerable so if you contact them (details on their website) and explain the situation and ask them to register you if you don't already have an account you will hopefully get a slot. Yesterday I was able to get a slot for Friday after they'd flagged my account to say I was vulnerable.

    Best wishes
