Advice/Guidance

My dad has been recently diagnosed with Methoselioma.  He is getting very angry at my mam about everything and doesnt want to discuss anything.  Is there anything I can do to support my mam, apart from what I am already doing and being there.

I feel frustrated that I am not doing enough. Thank you.

  • Hello Habbott, welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's illness, and also that you feel helpless in this situation. As Lucie has already said, you are there to support both of them as best you can, so try not to be so hard on yourself. Its' not unusual to feel helpless in a situation such as the one you find yourself in, but you need to remember that you can only do your best. That is all anyone can do when dealing with cancer. This is a terrible time for anyone to be going through. You don't mention other family members or friends that may be able to pitch in and help out. If there are, perhaps you could suggest something that you could get some help with. In the meantime, Lucie has suggested contacting jules54 as a good poster to contact. It might be helpful for you to do that.

Don't forget to take care of yourself and come on to the forum anytime and people will usually respond in pretty good time.

  • Thank you Lucy and Lorraine, I have contacted Jules54 today.  Dad has another appointment today not sure why he needs to see the Respiratory Consultant or whether its a joint meeting with the Oncologist.

    Regards
