Distraught Mum - my daughter has stage 4 breast cancer with mets. Can't stop worrying. Would like to chat to someone going through something similar

My daughter has stage IV breast cancer with mets in lungs and bones. She is 52 years old.

I'm really struggling with this she's doing okay at the moment with her treatment but I just can't stop worrying about what's ahead for her/us.

Nightmares. imagining going through what seems inevitable it's so hard trying to be upbeat (she's very good at it) I'm scared.. live on my own lots of lovely friends to talk to but would love to chat to someone going through similar x

  • Hello Devastated-Mum and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter and how this is affecting you. When a loved one has cancer, it's natural to feel all sorts of emotions so it's difficult to stay upbeat especially when you're both trying to process this diagnosis. You're not alone in how you're feeling and I'm sure you'll be able to talk to other members with similar experiences. We have some advice on our website around coping with cancer, which also has guidance around mental health and caring for someone with cancer. I hope they are useful and you can refer to these pages at anytime.

It's encouraging to hear that your daughter is doing ok while on treatment and I hope that continues. Also, if you or your daughter would like to speak one of our cancer nurses about anything, you can contact the team on the free helpline 0808 800 4040. Lines open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

    All the best to you,
