My son was diagnosed with ALL when he was 6. He’s now 38 ; has served in Afghanistan as an Infantry Officer and is happily married with a 2 year old son. it was such a shock when he was diagnosed and back then there were 3 different treatments and so we found ourselves hoping that his type of treatment was the right one. Thankfully it was and he went into remission very quickly. It’s still a very difficult time to think about but the support and dedication of the oncologists and nurses was brilliant. Medication is so much more advanced now . I wish your granddaughter every good wish and hope she also goes into remission soon. It took our son ten years to get the all clear but he did live a normal life in between treatments.
He was initially diagnosed with mumps but he wasn’t getting better. Very lethargic and vomiting a lot. He went from a lively little boy to one that slept all day. It took a bone marrow biopsy to determine what it was. I spoke to a lot of parents then who all said the same thing . Parents know instinctively when their child is really poorly . always available to chat xxxx
