Partner shutting me out after finding out he has Prostrate Cancer Stage 2. What should I say or do?

My partner is shutting me out and we have seen each other or really spoken for 8 weeks. After a row wanting to know why he is treating me like this he tells me he has stage 2 cancer. Has not told anyone in his family and had quit his job. He didn't want to tell me cause my dad died of cancer. Says he doesn't want to burden me .... what do I say, what so I do..... any little advise will be greatly appreciated

  • Hi Maz-123 and welcome to the forum, though sorry you have to be here. Being told you have cancer is a difficult and emotional experience and a shock to the system for us all and takes time to come to terms with, Maz stage 2 prostate cancer is 100% curable and often may not even need treating for some time, just regular tests to keep an eye on it. I'm sure his doctor would have told him this. So there is no urgency regarding treatment, and time for him to come to terms with having cancer, maybe he just needs a little time and space, take care.
