I am sorry to hear about your situation. I can understand that having a regular test hanging over you can be unsettling. 

It does sound like your PMR (Polymyalgia rheumatica) was the cause of the rise in your PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen). By the sounds of it, your urologist was able to rule out any problems with your prostate from the results of your MRI scan. The PSA test is never used as a stand alone test and if it is raised other tests are usually done to help diagnose someone.

It does sound like your PSA result has now returned to a normal level.

As you did have a raised PSA result your doctor has recommended that you have regular blood tests just to keep an 'eye ' on it. If you have any urinary symptoms before the six months then do get in touch with your GP and so they can do a PSA  earlier. The NHS have written some warning signs that it helps to be aware of which you can see here

Active surveillance and watchful waiting is used when prostate cancer is actually diagnosed so this will probably not apply to you as mentioned by Billiegoat.
