Mammogram

I had an operation last year to remove a lump ad a lymp node.

I am on Letrozole for 5 years.

I am having mammograms every year.

I am going for a mammogram on Friday 25th.

I just wanted to know do i get my results there and then or will they send me them through the post.

Thank you

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

It may vary from hospital to hospital how you will get your results. If you are still in touch with your breast specialist nurse (CNS), they would be the best person to contact as they know your situation.

You should also be told how you will receive your results when you have your mammogram.

I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful on this occasion, but I hope all goes well with your upcoming mammogram,

    Jemma.

  • Evening Jemma,

Thank you very much for replying with this information.

    Thanks again

  • Hi

It differs from consultant to consultant in my experience. My 1st mammogram after treatment, I was given the results at my clinic appointment with my consultant 2 weeks after the mammogram. Thereafter, I had to call my consultant's secretary to get the results. Others, under another consultant were getting there's either in clinic or their consultant called them.

I was transferred to a local breast team 2 years ago and I am under a non surgical doctor and I get my results at the time.

Hope everything is going well and you don't have to wait too long.

  • Hi Magpiemaggie, hope your having a good easter. Weather's not as nice today.

How are you doing? Thanks for explaining.

Yes its my first mammogram after my operation in July last year.

See what they say when i go on Friday.

I am a bit worried but thinking positive.

    Thanks

    Peggy

  • It's raining where I am, pity as I have new plants for my garden and was hoping to get stuck in.

I am fine, apart from joint pain, which started when on tamoxifen and put down to side effects.  However I was discharged last year and still have joint pain, so it looks like it was not down to side effects but actual arthritis.

The years following the original treatment can be an anxious time. Each year the mammogram stirs fears and memories. I looked at the yearly mammograms as a positive reinforcement that I had a security net for the next 5 years. Although as one of my breast was lobular BC, I did and do believe a MRI should be offered. Anyway, 7 years after bc and still here. All the worrying came to nothing.

Try and take comfort in the fact that you are getting the best preventative treatment which will help you going forward with your life.

I hope everything goes well, results come in quickly and you can then enjoy the spring/summer. ️
