Hi Rainbowmolly, and welcome, though sorry you have to be here, and have prostate cancer, as do I Gleason 10 nearly 3 years now, I 'm on hormone therapy, injections and pills and had radiotherapy April 2023, and still doing ok. I can imagine your feeling pretty awful and lost, and unsure about the future, most of us did at diagnosis, it's a tough thing to be told. but todays treatments are so much better than 3 years ago and new and improved ones are becoming available al the time, so consultants don't like to give a prognosis, as they don't know what time we have, my best wishes with your treatments. I am sorry to learn of your situation this must be a difficult time for you.
I imagine it was a shock to get yourdiagnosisand as Eddie has posted, it is hard when there is a lot of uncertainty. However, prostate cancer is a common cancer and because of this doctors know how totreatit. Hormone therapy and radiotherapy are some of the main treatments that are known to be effective; generally, people will respond well to it.
A person's outlook will depend on many factors such as the stage of the cancer (its size and how far it has spread), how well a person responds to treatment, and how well they are generally whether they have other health conditions.The doctors can only talk about a person's outcome based on their own experience of looking after people in a similar situation, no one can say with certainty how things will be. I appreciate this uncertainty is difficult to live with.
