Hello Sulinzi and a warm welcome to the forum, The PSA test is to measure the amount of an antigen, prostate specific antigen, present in the blood. the prostate always gives off a small amount of this antigen but should the prostate get infected or damaged the amount of the antigen released into the blood increases. Your PSA of 74 ng/ml, "all PSA scores are in nanograms per millilitre ng/ml", indicates a probable issue with the prostate gland. The main causes being an enlarged prostate, urinary tract infection, prostatitis and cancer. take care.

Hello Sulinzi and thanks for posting
I am sorry to hear you are undergoing some tests due to a raised PSA test and hope your appointment today with the urologists goes well.
As eddiel has already helpfully said PSA is measured by nanograms of PSA per millilitre of blood (ng/ml) a reading of 76 is above normal range and whilst cancer can be a cause of this other prostate conditions can also raise the PSA.
I'm sure today the urologist will assess and possibly examine you before deciding what further tests you need to find out more about what is going on.
I hope you know more soon about your situation.
