Chemotherapy

Hi,

I am due to start chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Please could any share their experiences.  I'm a nervous wreck, unsure whether to carry on working etc... scared of the side effects etc.

Is the pain really bad?

Any experience would be much appreciated.

Thank you

  • I've been through the ringer these past few days since chemo, only getting up because my wee dog needs out. It's been like a coinstant hangover, haven't eaten anything since Thursday no energy once my wee dog is sorted, the joys of living alone.

I've been up today for the longest since Thursday, I'm hoping I'm over the worst be because I can't cope with feeling like this for a week after chemo.

Your poor hand, putting up with chemo plus that, just awful. I hope it won't take too long before it's on the mend.

    Xx

  • Big hugs to you xx

I'm sorry you're going through this on your 1st one.  Don't feel like you're alone, I'm here anytime you wish to have a chat. I mean this too xx

I'm pleased that you managed to get up for longer. Hopefully,  this is worst bit for you now and there's a bit of normality for you xx

This has got to be my worst session of chemotherapy and the dosage has been reduced too. I've decided that I'm not going to have anymore.  I've done half, I just can't do anymore. I finally ate yesterday  only to throw it all up this morning.

I'm fed up with the hand situation.  I've had enough now xx

  • Hi Anjaya, sorry to hear that you have being going through such a tough time on chemo. Was your next chemo changing over to a different one. One nurse told me that some people who have a rough time on one chemo, have a better time on a different one. If yours is due to change, would it be worth trying one to see how it goes? Hope your hand starts to improve, it sounds so painful. Xx

  • Oh Anjaya, I totally understand how you feel, I was contemplating the possibility of not going through with any more if it was going to be like this.

Have you told them what you have decided? Will what you have had be enough to keep you safe?

You have been through so much with chemo and the mess they made of your hand, I can understand how you don't want to continue on with it.

But there are tablets they can give you for the sickness etc, until they find the ones that work for you.

It's an awful situation to be in, having to have something that makes us so unwell so that we will be well!

    Xx
