I am sorry to hear you were found to have breast cancer but it is good to hear they have been removed with clear margins and no lymph nodes.

Hopefully others who have been through similar will pop on to share their stories with you about making treatment decisions. As I am sure you are aware making a decision about having further treatment can be difficult to make and what is right for one person won't be the same for someone else.

We have more information about prosigna and other tumour profiling tests here that is probably helpful for you to read. As you will see any patient meeting the NICE criteria for these tests are usually offered it to determine their risk and percentage benefit for chemotherapy. These patients will be assessed as intermediate risk with a oestrogen positive, her2 negative breast cancer that hasn't spread to the lymph nodes. The test looks at how fast growing and active the breast cancer cells were to assess the likelihood of the cancer coming back in the future.

At the end of the day only you can decide what is best for you moving forward once given all the information, which you will receive once the results from the prosigna test are back.

Just came across your post. Wondered how you got on with the prosigna test? I'm currently waiting for my results, i'm 43, so pre menopausal, had one lymph node with cancer. ER8PR8 HER2 Negative...I fit into that strange grey area where they're not sure how much i'll benefit from chemo but i'm worried there's not enough evidence on the prosigna test with pre menopausal women! Just wondered how you were getting on what your score was and what you ended up doing with regards to Chemo. Part of me wants to avoid chemo and the other part wants to throw everything at this and go buckles and braces! the waiting is so hard. Hope you're doing ok! x

Hi, I had my results on Friday and unfortunately I scored 64 which is classed as a high risk of reoccurrence if I didn't have chemotherapy. 

I'm now going to have 6 rounds of chemotherapy every three weeks.  I have to gave blood tests two days before each one. 

My 1st chemo is on the 21st March and I have an appointment at the hospital on the 12th match to go through everything with me. The nurse has referred me to the wig specialist and I should hear from them this week.

I was adamant I wouldn't have chemotherapy. I was keep saying to myself that I would refuse it but when I saw the Oncologist,  he gave me percentages of this and that and if I refuse and it comes back, then it will be stage 4 cancer and not curable. The stats he gave me was the minimum so the risk could in fact be aloy higher.

Based on this, I'm having chemo followed by 9 sessions of radiotherapy followed by hormone tablets xx

The wait is hard. They will give you all the stats, percentages etc if you do require it. The ProSigna test is very accurate.  I'm pre menstrual too. 

I've been crying since Friday and still trying to take it all in. They wanted me to start next week but I told them I want my wig first x

My lymph nodes were clear and stage 2.

Oh Anjala, i'm so sorry you've had to go through all of this and so sorry to hear you've been so upset. 

Try and look at the positives, that chemo is really going to help you and help reduce the risk of this coming back. It's going to be a good thing and will stop this horrid disease returningk. You will get through the chemo...take one day at a time and you'll be absolutely fine...and it will all be totally worth it. You have so many treatment options, chemo, radio and hormone that it's all going to be doing its job to stop it coming back...and we have to look at ourselves as the lucky ones that we do have options and treatments available. You'll be ok. I'm sure you have lots of friends and family to lean on...and please do lean on them and make sure you look after yourself. Your mental well being is just as important as your physical health..be kind to yourself.

I am stage 2, one lymph node involvement. Really hoping to get my results back this week...no appt or phonecall yet hoping by Friday i'll have a plan in place. It's the waiting which is hard, i kind of just want to know what treatment i'm going to be having...but hopefuly not too much longer....

You're right, we are lucky that we have all these options and only stage two cancer.

Long term, it will help reduce the risk of it returning abd this time next year it be all over xx

If you haven't had the appointment within 3 weeks,  I'd chase this up with your breast care nurse as it shouldn't take longer than three weeks.  I had to chase mine up. Turns out the secretary forgot to send me my appointment xx

Yes i got mine back on Thursday and it was 62!!...so i am now staring down the barrel of 6 rounds of chemo like you!! Do you know which drugs you are having? My oncologist mentioned 3 rounds of EC followed by 3 rounds of Docetaxel.....I'm seeing my oncologist today so hopefully i'll find out more about start dates etc....weirdly feel ok knowing that i can now throw everything at it to hopefully prevent this thing from coming back! Obvioulsy i didn't quite want the score to be as high as it was, it's also Luminal B...so not great but i know that there are treatment options and i know with chemo, radio and hormone therapy available i'm giving myself the best chance!...it's just going to be a tough ride for the next little while but trying to stay positive as i think that can help so much in terms of recovery etc....Just can't believe i'm chatting to friends about wigs and things...all seems a bit surreal!,,and it's weird not quite knowing what side effects I will and won't get?? 

How are you feeling about everything? I"m here for a chat whenever you need to offload. I think you said you had an appt next week and then start chemo on the 21st is that right??

I'm so sorry to hear this. My score was 64 and I'm having exactly the same treatment as you.

I have been told by the Oncologist that if my side effects are severe, the dosage can be lowered. But time will tell.

I had my wig on Tuesday last week. I am going to give the cold cap a go in the hope that I retain at least some of my hair.

Will you do the cold cap?

Yes, I'm seeing the nurse on the 12th match so will ask more questions then. As you're treatment is exactly the same aa mine, I'm happy to ask any questions you may want to know and I can relay them back. 21st march is my 2st chemo xx

Wgat we need to think is this: it's to make sure the cancer does not come back at all. So it will definitely help in this xx
