From previous experience personally, and with family - if they suspect cancer it's usually a two-week turnaround time. That was my experience with a breast lump, and was the time a GP suggested if I needed a gastro referral for cancer concerns. I'd take the 10 week time as being reassuring, sometimes they want to repeat a scan because there may have been movement which altered the result e.g. swallowing, they suspect it's caused by a temporary illness etc. If they were concerned you'd be seen sooner.
