HPV and Low-grade dyskaryosis

Hi Guys

I have just received a letter confirming I have HPV and Low-grade dyskaryosis. I am going for a colposcopy. I was just wondering how the procedure was etc...

I am also worried sick, I have lower abdominal pain and I think a UTI, not diagnosed. I had excruciating pain a few weeks ago after sex, but I just had put that down to having the coil fitted a couple of months back.

But you google these things and it's terrifying, I know you shouldn't google but it's natural!!!

Any words of wisdom or advice would be much appreciated

Charlotte

  • Hey babe

I understand you completely I had the same result etc etc

HPV is a very coming viral infection unfortunately they don't test men for it all women who have or are sexual active will have experienced the HPV virus.
You don't know you got it unless it shows on your smear results, secondly their no cure the HPV your body immune system fights off eventually, but the HPV does cause slight chances in the cells by your cervix.
low grade is not serious or cancer my lovely cervical cancer takes years and years to develop this is why it's always advised to keep up with regular smear testing,

the hospital normally leave Low grade cell changes has they do tend to return back to normal but if they don't there is always a treatment to remove them,

please please please try not worry my lovely it just a check up if it was cancer or even a slight look that cancer is developing they would have you in straight away.

all us women have been through it and come out thinking why did we worry so much but it's nature to worry

let me know how the hospital goes

    take care xxx

  • Hahaha, that's what I get for relying on autocorrect with teary eyes - at least it's given me something to laugh about now!

Thank you for putting my mind at ease! This all proves why it's so important to have the smear test - prevention is better than cure!

  • Ah-glad it was autocorrect! Prevention is definitely better than cure, but you shouldn’t have anything to worry about with low grade changes.

  • Even high grade cell changes don't mean cancer it just means they won't go back to normal on their own and will need to be removed to stop it forming into cancer

honestly darling you have nothing to worry like I stated previously it takes a good 10 to 15 years to develop cervical cancer. Thank god for smears I say xx

  • I think you probably meant that for MissHannah-I’ve already been through cervical cancer.

One thing I would say is that it USUALLY takes many years for cervical cancer to develop but not always. While smear tests are important to identify cell changes, not all types of cervical cancer are caused by HPV, and some do not go through a pre cancerous stage, so getting any unusual symptoms investigated is just as important as having smear tests.

  • Hi,

I've just had my results back from my smear and I also have HPV and low grade dyskaryosis, how long did you have to wait to get your colposcopy appointment? Do you have it within a couple of weeks or is it more like months? I was planning a trip and it's already been put on hold a couple of times due to covid and now this .

    Thanks

  • Hi hunni,

I had to wait about a month to get me in for next month. Beginning of March for my colonoscopy. I have been starting taking my vitamins to keep my immune system stable. Oh bless, I've not had a holiday for 3 years .... Let me know how you get on darling x

  • Hi,

OK thank you for replying. Hope your colposcopy goes well next month. X

  • I've just realised it's called colposcopy I'm going to & not colonoscopy. Stupid predictive text lol. Will keep you all updated x

  • Haha, that's ok I knew what you meant lol x
