Hi,I am also going through similar had tests fir acid reflux then an uktrasound, were they found,a 10 cm mass in small bowel and attached to mesentry c blood vessels I amc63 with heart problems and having my op nc25th nov.They have booked me an icu bed  ,I haven't had,a,biopsy because they think it's a ,qmgist tunour which cud seed.. .Terrified of outcome..I hope you get Yr treatment soon.much love

I truly hope everything turns out positive for you & you make a speedy recovery.I've also got my Op on Nov 25th, I'm trying to stay focused, I'm just so worried. I've read that tumours/Cancer of the Small Intestine/Bowel are very rare. I have been trying to find more information these past few days & I'm trying to find others who are going through a similar situation or who have been through it. Also, trying to speak to Specialist Bowel Cancer Hospital's to gain more info & understanding.

I recently had a right hemicolectomy as had been experiencing quite bad pain at my right hand side. My CT Scan showed part of my intestine was going inside another bit and the reason this had happened was because of a tumour. The surgery was done keyhole with an incision down the centre of my tummy too and recovery... the first week it was sore but it did heal very quickly. I am nearly 8 weeks post op and able to go for  short runs etc and run after my little girl. I think I was very lucky as the tumour was removed, it hadn't spread and lymph nodes were all clear so now I am being reviewed every 6 months for the next while. It is terrifying receiving the news. I was so scared and googling like mad but it made me feel worse as there were so many bad stories out there so I made myself only read positive stories and only read information on bowel cancer UK website, cancer research website and macmillan and that way I felt so informed. I'm so glad I've seen your replies, because so far I'm pretty much in the dark &  I've been told nothing about my tumour by my Consultant. Other than it's a tumour Thank you for mentioning the gist gastric stroma tumour etc, I can't believe my Consultant has explained more about such possibilities. I think he has almost assumed it to be a cancerous tumour. I'm going to definitely look up what you have mentioned, Thank you so much for the info.

Hiya.  Yeah, not always the best stuff to hear before you require something major, but like you probably already know, they have to cover themselves and the healthboard/trust from litigation. It's a legal requirement that, if in sound mind, and an adult, they have to allow the patient to make an informed choice. If not in sound mind, it moves over to the next of Kin/legal guardian.
