Hi, You are sure going through it right now...so sorry. Wanted to pop in and give you a rough idea of what to expect at the breast clinic.

you will more than likely have a chat with the consultant first, they will have a good feel/look at the lump area, they may heck your other breast too.

Then it will be off for a mammogram, possibly an ultrasound and don't be upset if they want a biopsy at the same time.

until biopsy results are through no one can say 100% what the lump is, I know you'll worry ...it's human nature to worry but try and only think of what's happening to you now..in the minute....not about tomorrow or next week or next month...I can highly recommend calm App, it's got me through many a moment!

Hi, I'm relatively new here too. I'm waiting for my breast centre referral appointment after a visit to my GP where they confirmed a lump. 

I think it is natural to worry like you are - I can't stop thinking about it either. It's keeping me awake at night and even when you try to reason those thoughts come back. I hope you get an appointment and some answers soon.

If you can try to get out for some fresh air - for me I have found that going for a walk really helps and outside of that have been concentrating on tasks around the house. Sending love xx

that's good advice about fresh air. I've forced myself to go for a walk Monday and Tuesday and you're right, it does help. Had to go for a fine needle aspiration on my neck today, so didn't manage to go for a walk, but will definitely aim for it tomorrow if weather permits.

I was told all the way along the lump was a fibroadenoma and not to worry....even on biopsy day....sadly it turned out to be cancer....xx

I was told my lump was highly suspicious by the doctor who did my ultrasound. They know what they're looking at and while they occasionally may be wrong, it's not often. So, yes they will give you an indication if cancer is suspected. When I went for biopsy result, my existing knowledge really helped as it was no surprise when cancer was confirmed and I was already at the "what are you able to do about it" stage. I went to breast test Wales and they were able to give me my treatment plan at same time as biopsy results.

Were you diagnosed recently JaneRu? I missed a mammogram last Oct due to COVID and feel so full of regret that I didn't go. But I've been ringing and ringing them this year,  but they've not had a local unit. It makes such a difference.

How long after biopsy results did your treatment start? Xx

How are you getting on Yorksirelass9? Have you managed to get out for any walks or found anything else that helps? 
 

I noticed my referral was updated online today with an appointment buts it still three weeks away so longer than the two week referral. Have you heard anything about your appointment yet?

Hi,

Yes I was called for routine mammogram in August. When I came back from my holiday, a letter was waiting to attend the breast clinic on September 29th. They told me there and then I had a small tumour in my right breast, did a biopsy and got results to confirm it was cancerous on 6th October. I had surgery to remove the lump and the sentinel node on 11th October. full results on 19th which confirmed a 19mm Grade 2 tumour.  margins were clear and no lymph nodes involvement. I am now waiting for radiotherapy. I feel lucky this was found although my initial reaction was definately one of feeling lucky! I've got my head around it all now and if I can offer any reassurance, it's that this is probably the worst you will feel. You'll be so we'll looked after and if you have the diagnosis of cancer it isn't the end of the world, really, it isn't. There is always the chance that it isn't cancer, too. Good luck!
